I've been hacking away at Manny's model in Maya for about an hour now, and I've run into a bit of a problem. What, exactly, is the plan for improving it? Stylistically, he's meant to look like a paper doll. Realism would subtract from his charm, and the sharp edges of the model contribute to the loo...

If I may offer another suggestion, it's probably prudent to go through the game, and make a list of exactly what characters and textures are a priority for this project. No use extracting every texture for every object and background character, and worrying about sorting them, if the only characters...

Hey everyone, I'm an animator, and I've got a suggestion that may make the prospect of remodelling characters without messing up the animation a little less intimidating. When you're working with a character, you'd usually use a rig. A virtual skeleton, made up of very simple geometry. The model's m...

I'm using Milkshape 1.7 and I get "Mesh header read error". Are you able to email me a 3do file from JK so I can compare the two files and see if I can edit the GF ones to be the same format/standard? When opened in a text editor they're human-readable, so it should be possible and the two...

Ahh, thanks - I didn't see that one. I might see if I can work out what version of milkshape it was originally built for, and try and get a hold of that. Thanks again. I'll let you know what happens there - and if anyone else has ideas that would be helpful too, I have a feeling the full game models...

If you could, that would be great.

It's called JED - the latest version has a broken link, but the one before it works. I doubt the demo would work, because it's designed for modding and also asks which drive has the CD.

Thanks for the tip, ezikiel. It helped as far as it let me find a viewer, but the only things I can find editor-wise are JK-specific and require JK to be installed. The viewer I found isn't using a new enough DX version for me to capture anything from it, and has no export features. Oh, and I can on...

As a little personal project I've been interested in polishing up a couple GF models. At this stage I'm not going to try and put them back in the game or anything, I'd just like to do a little fanart or something. While I could probably start from scratch, having the original models to use as refere...
