I have the DVD version of Broken Sword 1 and 2 both on a single DVD. I believe this is the version with a custom ScummVM copy included to run the games. Success! I tried every copy mode to be thorough and it finally worked with the -r option for Raw Data. Here's the steps I performed for anyone else in my position.
