DOSBox settings can be pretty difficult to understand. Why not use a front end, such as DBGL (DOSBox Game Launcher) which makes life dead easy.

I've installed ResidualVM, but clicking on the icon does nothing. . I've checked my config file - on running ResidualVM, it removes the first line [residual] but does nothing else.
