Due to video memory organization, vertical scrolling is simply operation of copying 1 block of data, while scrolling horizontaly requires to move each line separately. In the case of SCI this isn't correct. We are copying rects, when scrolling vertically and horizontally. Sierra SCI is able to scro...

The exact error message is: "Warning: possibly raw lipsync data found at offset 5806850 Fatal Error: no SOL audio after possible raw lipsync data at 5806850" i just tried compressing gk1 and it also worked fine. the offset is really strange. In my file that's in the middle of a sample. Wh...

Approximately 572mb. I need the exact file size please. Also I just tried again and compressing it worked just fine here. Maybe there was some change on the tools that broke something. Just looking into it. Ok, the exact size is 599,841,365 bytes. The file's complete md5 checksum is e9ab2414846c584...

Could you tell me how large your pharkas resource.aud is? Approximately 572mb. I need the exact file size please. Also I just tried again and compressing it worked just fine here. I said the GUI doesn't work because it asks you to select an output file, when you need to be able to make a new one. Maybe it's possible to enter a new filename instead. And it was the resource.aud file. The same thing actually happens when I try to compress the resource.sfx file for Gabriel Knigh...

Ah, that worked. It had to do with not selecting a separate output file, it seems. It won't work in the tools GUI for the moment due to some quirks of the interface, but I assume that will be ironed out later. I never tested the GUI myself. Some other developer tried it and it seemed to have worked...

Re: SCI Compression Tool

it works (or it is supposed to do so), but only on resource.sfx and resource.aud files I have compressed most of my talkie games using it, so almost all of them fit onto one 2GB sdcard (used in my wii). Huh, ok. That is kind of odd. Whenever I use the CLI to try to open a RESOURCE.AUD file, it ends...

Re: SCI Compression Tool

This is mostly just curiosity, but I recently noticed that there is an SCI compression tool in the tools package. I tried fiddling around with it a bit, but it seems that it fails to open any resource.* files. I was just wondering if this tool is actually supposed to work at the moment, or if it is...

I guess that's actually a game bug. Will patch it though.

EDIT: it's patched now since r52038

you should consider the fact that some sci games have svga supported. For instance the CD version of Gabriel Knight. The icons and character portraits have all been redrawn in higher resolution. From the games announced, only KQ6 has hires support. And yes, hires (i.e. Windows) versions are support...

Playable but having a really annoying graphics problem, the portraits and character walking animation are not shown.

was a regression, is already fixed.

I tried both some months ago. They work just fine, even the hires version of kq6.

SQ4CD already contains all the text. So adding support to display it at the same time as voices are played is legally possible.

The patch that NewRisingSun made for the CD version of SQ4 enabled a text+speech option. But currently ScummVM has problems detecting exactly which version of SCI it is because of the patch and the way NRS hacked the scripts/engine. This is not a "patch" per se, but actually contains ever...

Why isn't it planned? Were you referring to the save/load screens or to the speech+subtitles option? I was refering to the speech+subtitle option. And why should we even think about it before every sci game is supported and working? How much work would it take to support speech+subs for each game? ...
