Perhaps this is why:

tcsh is the default shell in OS X Jaguar (10.2)
Panther (10.3) and Tiger (10.4) default to bash - many commands do work in either shell

Regarding naming the cd, my instructions work as is. With OS 10.2.8 both of these commands work as desired:

cd /Volumes/"The Dig"
cd "/Volumes/The Dig"

I do not need to use \ to replace spaces

Remember the command line is cASe SeNSitivE so /volumes will not work, etc.

You may find it easier to find the files using Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and basic commands. ls /Volumes the above will list names of all mounted disks cd /Volumes/"name of CD you want to try" navigate to the CD you want to check ls to list all folders/files in that directory cd &q...

Good luck going that route!

Freecycle has a few groups in New Zealand. Check out this link: http://freecycle.org/display.php?region=International

I also found places in NZ that offer CD repair kits.

I built a System 7.5.3 on a Jaz disk and The Jungle game works fine. So, I guess I need to round up all the errors on the games/demos I have available and do a bug report. I do recommend including operating OS in bug reports and compatibility reports. With a 3.5 year old, I'll probably be here frequ...

What files are in the directory you are trying to access? What error message do you get, if any? Can you provide more details?

Other ideas: You can purchase a CD repair kit. Be sure to check reviews before selecting a brand and read their experiences before giving it a shot. The game can be purchased for well under $10, also. I've also had luck finding some older games on freecycle.com

No, you don't need the PC version. You can do it either way. Does the game come with both the PC and Mac version? If so, you can use Terminal to copy the PC files and try it that way. Let me know if you want to try this and I can give details (cp \Volumes\"name of CD"\desiredfiles) Two tho...

On the Mac you navigate to the proper folder and click the Choose button. Here is a screen shot:

What files are in the game folder you have chosen? It could be a different problem.

This may very well be the case. If it was a problem on my end, I'm sure I could have solved it by now. I am tech savvy and accustomed to working computer support/server building/etc. in a mixed (PC/Mac/*nix) environment. Will try to borrow some time on a PC today or tomorrow to nail the case shut. I...

It is intersting that the Freddi Fish 1 demo I have also gives the premature end message on freddemo.he3 file. The 3rd file in both these games is much smaller than the other files.

I don't have a PC but can copy the files from one to see if there is any difference. Given that I've researched the different file systems and found tools to copy with and without resource forks, I don't think I'll see a difference in the "premature end" problem.

I still have my original System 7.5.3 operating system and may build a system with that in order to see if the program works that way. The game requirements are System 7.0 or higher.
