I really don't want to get involved in the argument, but as someone who uses ScummVM (and someone who once considered using AGS for game creation, but in the end decided to use other software) I just wanna say that there are far less than 2500 games that are actually even remotely interesting by fa...

Just my 2 cents, but I think the point of any future ScummVM AGS engine should be to support existing games, similar to the SCI engine support, especially when the older versions of the AGS interpreter will not run on modern systems. So the target for the ScummVM AGS engine at least initially would...

Please, could we make that happen? Pretty please? With a cherry or [insert your favourite treat here] on top? :-D Just a heads up that we're discussing it on the AGS forums. http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=55631 You'll see that questions about some of the technical capab...

i would love to hear you all shake hands and start over fresh. Please leave in the past what is possible Damn, I really hope I did not ignite another flamewar here. Agreed. Like Ivan, I was upset about the quote in the interview. I don't think it's a fair summary of what happened, and frankly I thi...

I feel like I have to speak now. First of all, let me clarify: people change, communities change, so whatever is being said below is only in defence of my words and ScummVM Team, as I am being clearly accused of misrepresenting the facts and painting the AGS community black. (An interesting fact is...

Of course you can copyright and license an API, whole industries are relying on that ;). No, I'm pretty sure you can't. There's a long history in computers of cloning APIs, and legal precedent (e.g. Lotus v. Borland, Sony v. Connectix) seems to support it. That's how AMD could go on making Intel-co...

Simple solution: Distribute the game in two files, one for the engines, and one for the data file. Right. Yeah, that sounds like it would do the trick. LordHoto's reply made it sound like all games distributed with a ScummVM-based engine would have to be fully open-sourced. For the example you give...

Well, that assumes that the goal is to make the current and upcoming versions of AGS ScummVM-compatible. (AGS includes HQ3X, btw.) On the AGS forums, on the other hand, the discussion has focused on getting ScummVM support for the older versions of the engine (2.6 and 2.7), since they are a stable t...
