My sound card has a built-in MIDI synth, so that's what I'm using. ScummVM detects this as "Emu10k1 WaveTable [ALSA]". However, for it to work I have to make sure a SoundFont is loaded, using the "asfxload" command. I don't know what's a good choice here, so I just stuck with th...

I'm using ALSA on Ubuntu, since PulseAudio was annoying in combination with SDL. I think he meant what ScummVM's "Music Device" (if you're using the "Edit game" dialog) or "Preferred Device" (if you're using the "Options" dialog) in ScummVM says. It used to b...

No, it's the Windows version on CD. It works fine, except for the music. IIRC, Discworld is quite a buggy game and I had some problems with it long time ago, but music at least should work

What version of Discworld do you have? Is it the DOS version? What sound driver are you using? Does this still happen with 1.4.0? With a build off the master? It's the Italian CD version of Discworld (English audio, Italian subtitles). I'm using ALSA on Ubuntu, since PulseAudio was annoying in comb...

No **music** in Discworld

Hi all,

I have this weird problem with Discworld: sound is working, since I hear the speech and some effects, but music is not. There is just no music in all the game.

I run ScummVM 1.3.1 on Ubuntu Linux. Any idea?

@eriktorbjorn: I already tried that, but thanks for your suggestion. Sadly, it does not work: the only thing I was able to achieve was to make ScummVM freeze upon closing, making PulseAudio crash ?_? That's quite funny @tsoliman: yes, it's terrible, completely pervasive in the system. I will continu...

Rough solution: just remove PulseAudio. It's a shame that such a widespread distribution like Ubuntu does not provide a serious support for the audio system, a fundamental part of the OS. Using ALSA, everything works just fine. It's a bit sad to adopt this kind of workaround in 2011, but I can't spe...

Crackling sound

Hi, I just updated my Ubuntu box and now I hear crackling sound when I play games on ScummVM. For instance, the characters moving in Gobliins 2 turn out to be really annoying, because every time they take a step they emit a sort of static noise. I noticed similar problems with ZSNes, so I think it's...

Indeed, it's a minor issue, but it might be confusing for some users. Can some of the developers explain why it works in this way? It's a bit odd, I'm just curious :)

Sorry, I'm just stupid  The savegames issue is not an issue: ScummVM simply disallow loading for those game from the launcher, you need to start the game first and then load through the game interface...

Re: From 1.2.1 to 1.3.1: a couple of issues

First of all, thanks for your assistance. I fixed the problem with Sky and Queen by changing the audio setting as you suggested, but I still have problems with saved games. It shouldn't be a problem, but the savegame file names are usually based on the "ID" setting for a game. If you added...

From 1.2.1 to 1.3.1: a couple of issues

Dear all, I updated ScummVM from 1.2.1 to 1.3.1 on my Ubuntu box. I noticed a couple of problems, which I would like to ask you how to solve. 1. "Beneath a steel sky" and "Flight of the amazon queen" do not work anymore. Whenever I try to start them, a loading bar appears with ti...

I am aware of at least one English version of KQ5 floppy that has a corrupted resource file (resource.001), and all of the files used for the game's ending are corrupted. I believe that the Italian version is a fan made translation of the English version, right? If this is the case, the only thing ...

I tried updating to ScummVM 1.3.1, but I still have the same issue. So it definitely seems a bug... Were you already aware about that? Do you need additional feedback about it? Another question: should I get the English version of the games to minimize this kind of risk in the future, or is it the s...

King's Quest 5 (Italian) bug

Dear all, I just registered to this forum to report a bug in the Italian floppy version of King's Quest V. I played through the entire game and now I reached the final battle against Mordack; but, after the intervention by Cedric, the evil wizard threatens me and the game just stops. It is not like ...
