ScummVM uses the default MIDI device.
Is MPU401 selected in the Windows MIDI mapper as the default device?

It uses CD audio. You might want to encode the tracks to Ogg, MP3 or FLAC.

As sayd above, there is no MT-32 chip not comming from Roland. Dream is no exception. I guess Dream does not use the Roland wavetable anymore, since they once lost a lawsuit against Roland related to the wavetable. I have a board for a Waveblaster connector labeled "DREAM GSWAVE". That one...

The Sound Canvas is a GS wavetable and has different samples than the MT-32. Listen to the Opening Credits-Track and the Moleman-Track on the Sam&Max CD! They are sampled from a Sound Canvas. Its sound is notable different to an MT-32. If you want to hear all LEC MIDI tracks in the intended way,...

There is a sample for comparision to the MT-32 emulator: http://www.artworxinn.com/alex/downloads.htm Also check out some OGGs of Loom and Monkey 2 tracks sampled from an MT-32 here: http://s-island.mixnmojo.com/ Also there are a lot of Sierra Soundtracks at http://www.queststudios.com/ including so...

There would be no need to modify the original interpreters in order to run the games directly from a DVD. Those games have some simple textfiles, where you can specify any path for the data files. It would be pretty easy to just put a CD1 and a CD2 directory on a DVD and run them with the original i...

I heared of that problem before. Seems there really was sould a missprinted version at some point. (Unless that one was a faulty bootleg. I don't know.)
You should ask the distributor for your country for a replacement CD.

Actually, there is no such thing like a "MT-32 compatible" sound card which is not built by Roland itself. It's a myth , made up by the competeting companies. What they really mean when they print "MT-32 compatible" on their boxes is merely that they have a wavetable with can rem...

You could try to rip it as one big wave file and mount it with the cue sheet from that version: FILE "<Filename>.iso" BINARY TRACK 01 MODEx/2xxx FILE "Range.wav" WAVE TRACK 02 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 03 AUDIO INDEX 01 02:01:01 TRACK 04 AUDIO ...

The team may not have been 'that' experienced with CD but removing text and substituting with audio doesn't exactly sound like a technical decision, more like a design decision. There is no text substituted with audio. In fact, all audio is still available as subtitles as well. There are many lines...

You don't need the patch for the VGA version. Unfortunately, there is no SFX when playing Monkey EGA/VGA with MT-32. That's normal for that game. Stan's music is only in the CD version as well as the music at the cannibal village and the short cue when Elaine's kidnapped. Also there is no music play...

It should be able to generate any game by just looking at some input like a magazine page or a short video clip which reports about it. It also should automatically paint all the rooms and characters when it just learned about an old text adventure thus converting it to a whooping state of the art p...

However, it should be possible to replace the Conroy Bumpus' Song in the compressed monster.sou with that of the CD (which is identical except that it is 44100 Hz stereo).
Though, you can't do that with the official ScummVM tools.

I meant more in the sense of keeping joey the same, and enhancing (interpolating? like I said I don't know what is possible with audio) the human speakers so the audio quality seems better Sure, you can interpolate sounds. This is usually called "resampling" or when your target rate is an...

A higher rate would also gain precision in the synthesizers, I think. MT-32 natively has 32 kHz, iIrc. And the FM-Synthesizers should support an unlimited response in theory. Though, for the none MIDI games, even GF still is 22kHz. EMI finaly got 44100 Hz (using MP3 with frequencies up to 16kHz), wh...
