Re: The Longest Journey - datafiles can't be copied
Sorry for necroposting/resurrecting an old thread, but I just came across this while trying to copy the datafiles from my own copy of the German 4CD version. While copying the files fails due to the copy protection, the installer works fine even on Windows 11( despite a warning it won't run under Wi...

Re: steamdeck and scummvm problems
Try setting graphics modde to OpenGL in global options (under graphics) and restart. This should fix it.
If it looks too big after doing that go to the GUI section in the settings and change GUI scale to medium or small (depending on your preference)

Re: ScummVM 2.6.0 or: Insane Escapism
I was playing The Longest Journey on 2.5.0 and I updated to 2.6.0 and now the game is permanently widescreen. I didn't change any options after playing last and any option I change now to try to force 4:3 doesn't work. Other games still display in 4:3. Edit: I reverted back to 2.5.0 and 4:3 works n...

Re: Steamdeck ScummVM required?
What Praetorian said is all true! Also not all games that are supported by ScummVM are available on Steam or even some that are (for example "The Longest Journey" comes to my mind but I'm sure there a plenty other games) are not playable through Steam Play/Proton, so for these games ScummV...

Re: Which one do I download for Steam Deck?
I got my Steamdeck today and can confirm that the Flatpak version (it's 2.5.1) works perfectly fine including playing the supported 3D games (I tried Grim Fandango and The longest Journey for a little bit). Both control sticks as well the touchpad (which basically acts as a mouse) work fine but of c...

Re: Which one do I download for Steam Deck?
Yeah sure that's a dilemma. While I'm sure it is possible to compile he latest master an Steam Deck it's probably not that easy as installing the libs is a bit of a trouble from what I've read due to some security measures in Steam OS (standard arch linux pacman installs don't work, there are workar...

Re: Which one do I download for Steam Deck?
While I'm neither a developer nor own a Steam Deck yet (still waiting on my Q1 reservation :)) ScummVM is available on flathub.org as a Flatpak package (https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.scummvm.ScummVM), thus you should be able to install it in KDE Discover (the buillt in "app store" i...

Re: Playing DOTT with SFX but without voices?
I doubt it would be ok to share the monster.sou for this though for copyright reasons Simply replacing the CD version's monster.sou with the floppy version's probably wouldn't work anyway. From what I remember, the game hard-codes the exact offsets into the file where it should play each sounds fro...

Re: Playing DOTT with SFX but without voices?
I'm pretty sure the floppy disk version only has the sound effects (except for the intro which is voiced), at least so does the German floppy version I have. I doubt it would be ok to share the monster.sou for this though for copyright reasons and I think the floppy version is kind of hard to get th...

Re: Steam Deck
SteamOS is Linux, Debian-based. So, if our standard packages will not work, it will be trivial to build. Actually the SteamOS that will be shipped on the Steam Deck is Arch based, but I've previously run ScummVM on Manjaro Linux (which is also Arch based) so I absolutely don't see a reason why Scum...

Re: Dreamfall TLJ: ScummVM can't find the game in the folder
I'm also 99.9% sure that Dreamfall uses a completely different engine than TLJ - it's a completely 3D engine while TLJ uses 3D models on pre-rendered backgrounds (similar to Grim Fandango). I doubt that any code from TLJ was reused, the best bet to get it to run on modern machines (if it doesn't run...

Re: Support for: The Clue/Der Clou possible?
I know the game and even own it somemewhere, I remember back then it was a big deal when they open sourced it. It's a pretty fun game from what I remember (haven't played it in many years though). it's also not really an adventure game, though admittedely the focus for ScummVM has been slightly loos...

https://www.scummvm.org/news/20210404/ there you go (currently AGS is enabled in the daily/nightly builds but if I'm correct it should be part of the next mainline version that's in testing right now)

Re: TLJ: Random text is replaced by ellipses
ResidualVM is not developed anymore as it's been merged with ScummVM - so this bug will stay in ResidualVM as it was introduced before the merger. Just download a recent daily build of ScummVM from https://www.scummvm.org/downloads/ (it supports the HD mod too) as this bug has been fixed now. Also i...
