It does seem like this section of ScummVM could do with a bit of revamping... It's not obvious in the menus and it's not really all that obvious once you've read the manual :-/

I agree with you that the VSC sounds just fine in GS mode, so it is a good alternative to the S-YXG50 for Vista users. If you are running XP however, IMHO the Yamaha synth sounds even better plus it is faster and it is free. Bah. If only it worked in Vista :( Thanks for the clarification! But what ...

Also there is a Virtual Sound Canvas (expiring Demo available), which is a software version (unfortunately not for DOS games as they usually need an MPU401 port).
