Great work kavehth and Cervian! Are there any updates on this? Just now I am working of a special version of the LSA. bb Thanks. I would love to see what you come up with. I have not been able to work on it these past couple of months, the only scene that I have really worked on is the cafe. here i...

Re: Widescreen mod
Maybe you could explain EXACTLY what you're doing and we might be able to spot the problem? Well it should be easy, plug n play, right? But it just doesnt work. I downloaded all of Kavehths mods (480, 1080, noScale) on Win XP. Started the 480 version, added Grim directory which contains "wides...

Re: Widescreen mod
I've tried the mod on Win 7 64-bit and I still get the same errors as on 32-bit XP. Johnny, did you manage to make it work? i don't know what could be causing the problem, I've tried it on two PCs with no problems. I've made another version and removed the changes i made to the code to scale the ba...

Re: Widescreen mod
Every exe I try to run says: "... it's not a valid Win32 application". Since I'm using Win XP 32-bit, maybe it's trying to use some 64-bit libraries? I Googled the problem and there is a tutorial how to export Win32 compatible applications from Visual Studio 2012+ https://software.intel.c...

Re: Widescreen mod
Really excited, looks amazing. Kavehth, how was does it feel playing GF in widescreen? Do you create "wide" folder inside Residual and place PNGs there? It feels great playing in widescreen especially the scenes that are in the streets. you can put files directly in the game folder or in ...

Re: Widescreen mod
Did you by chance compile it without defining the USE_PNG option or linking with libpng? The few screens I tried work fine here. thanks, i got it working, the problem was that i didn't set USE_PNG to "true" here is the game running at 1080 with sharpened backgrounds and in widescreen http...

Re: Widescreen mod
@boltje: I tried your side-textures branch but when i put the side images in the game directory the game crashes when it tries to read the png images. when the code reaches this line i get this error: First-chance exception at 0x0152A7BE in residualvm.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading locat...

Re: Widescreen mod
Yes Kavehth, I'll try that Resize9 software when I make enough backgrounds for first puzzle to be 100% widescreen completable, which is like 8 more backgrounds. But I think I can achieve the same result with Smart Sharpen in PS too... that Resize9 is just for people who want sharper images and don'...

Re: Widescreen mod

I didn't really play with the setting much so maybe it can be even better. there is a 30 day free trial so you can try it out for yourselv...

I also have to ask Kavehth to help me with his 3D extraction for "Server Room", since it also has like 5 angles of the same place... here are the images for the server room http://imgur.com/a/1uU6i this time i didn't get very good result on the sides so i don't know how helpful they'll be...

Re: The future of Grim Fandango Deluxe
We have a number of options regading the backgrounds, one would be to redo them from scratch, this would take a lot of work but not as much as you're thinking, remember that we can get a lot of information from the zbuffers, if we can get more people on this it might be possible. Another would be to...

Re: Widescreen mod
Here are all the angles of the garage http://imgur.com/a/UeMWC/all i didn't change anything, I just combined all the meshes and rendered all the camera angles. with a little clean up we could get a lot better results. unfortunate there are some z-buffers that have been big chunks that have been blac...

Re: Recreating the backgrounds
Amasing. What was the problem with the first try, how did you solve it? It looks like Z-buffer is stil in low res, is there any way to make a new z-buffer image in high res? Oh, and, how much time did you spend making the scene in 3D? My first try was on the remastered version and i was not able to...

Re: Recreating the backgrounds
After a couple of small changes to residual, here is grim running at 1440x1080 with hi res backgrounds http://i.imgur.com/J57D5m1m.jpg I haven't had time to look at the widescreen mod, but with that we should be able to have widescreen as well. unfortunately i don't know how we might be able to do t...
