Re: ScummVM games whose FM Towns port > the PC port
Apparently the NES version of Maniac Mansion has non-stop (?) music, with different themes for each character. I've seen people in forums say the game feels odd without that, but I only know it from YouTube. If the MacVenture games (Deja Vu, Uninvited, Shadowgate and Deja Vu II) ever become support...

Re: Secret of Monkey Island background music while playing?
As a follow-up to my question about games with redbook audio, Foobar played a few tracks off the 1st CD of Zork: Grand Inquisitor for Windows. All but one of these tracks were just sound effects that play during the installer module, and the sole outlying track was just some generic music. CD2 of Zo...

Re: ScummVM games whose FM Towns port > the PC port
The FM Towns port of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade has better quality music compared to the PC port. I don't have that version, though it seems to me that you could get a similar experience from turning down the volume and listening to the movie soundtrack on the side. The difference is sound ...

Re: Secret of Monkey Island background music while playing?
Can you tell me which other ScummVM-compatible games that are CD-based require audio to be ripped from the CD? The only other one I can remember is Loom for the PC and FM Towns Marty. Quite a lot of them, and I don't have a complete list myself. These are the game CDs in my collection where I found...

Re: Secret of Monkey Island background music while playing?
However, I think some of the MIDI-based background music coded into the game's core files would play before I ripped the audio. There is no MIDI music in the CD version of Monkey Island at all. Hmm... The Secret of Monkey Island was the first ScummVM emulated game I had to rip CD audio for. Because...

ScummVM games whose FM Towns port > the PC port
I was wondering if I could get a listing of games where its better to play the FM Towns Marty port in ScummVM rather than the PC port. I have heard (and personally discovered) that the FM Towns Marty port of Loom is superior to the PC CD-ROM port of Loom. Although the PC port has 'talkie' voice acti...

Re: Secret of Monkey Island background music while playing?
I haven't played The Secret of Monkey Island in a long time...so I don't remember it clearly at all. However, when I try to play in Scumm, there is no backgroud music. The sound effects (doors opening, etc.) work fine - but I haven't heard any music. Was there no music in the game? (Note: i've only...

Re: curse of monkey island disc 2
I did all of the above steps, yet get this message when loading the game in ScummVM: "WARNING: Language file is forced to be ignored!" I'm not sure what that means... Apparently that message was added in 2007 to "allow non-english DIG and COMI to be set to English", and then rem...

Re: curse of monkey island disc 2
The ScummVM wiki explains that the following things should be copied from Disc 1 and Disc 2 into a single folder: COMI.LA0 (file) COMI.LA1 (file) COMI.LA2 (file) The RESOURCE folder from both Disc 1 and Disc 2 If you are asked if you want to merge folders, say yes. It doesn't matter whether you over...

Re: Zork Nemesis Subtitle Patch - How To Apply [Solved]
I finally figured out how to apply the subtitle patch for ScummVM. Just take the patch archive & dump only the addons folder into the main game folder. When in game go to options & there will be a new subtitle on/off menu in the upper right corner. All the other files in the patch are for i...
