Re: Nostalgia for adventure games
Among free games I'd suggest Beneath a Steel Sky, and for a bunch of euros on GOG you can buy The Dig.
Both science fiction games, I find them intriguing and funny (and The Dig has an excellent soundtrack, too).

Re: libfaad2 == .aac support?
AFAIK m4a should be aac into a proper container, so the last step would just be straightforward (ffmpeg on the command line will suffice).

Re: Gabriel Knight 1, back on italian fan-made translation
ScummVM developer sluicebox , expert in all matters of the SCI32 engine, has issued a commit to address the reported issues with the Italian translation for the CD version here: https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/commit/811033288ec6e3fa33c29f85bd32734bf6065aeb Anyway the commit by sluicebox is misl...

Re: Gabriel Knight 1, back on italian fan-made translation
Oh, I got confused by the game release packaged by GOG, which includes both DOS and WIN versions of the CD release (both executables are present) but no floppy variant.
Sorry for the buzz.
Can the floppy release be purchased somewhere?

Re: Gabriel Knight 1, back on italian fan-made translation
Thanks for your update! I think this could be filed as a new bug ticket on our tracker. Please provide all the required details (patch links, saved games near the crashes and the final crash). Otherwise, this issue will get lost in the forums. seems working ok with the latest 2.7.0 version, at least...

FITD alive again?
I see Yaz0r has put some recent work on his Free In The Dark engine on github.
Although I warmly hope he'll merge his effort into scummv, it's nice to see new interest in the very first series of "survival horror" games

Re: Gabriel Knight 1, back on italian fan-made translation
Further, I see in wiki page about SCI patches the patches by Enrico Rolfi (who worked on the translation also) include some bug fixing for the game itself - and this may be the culprit.
Should the patch take care of the translation only and skip the updating?

Gabriel Knight 1, back on italian fan-made translation
I have GK1 from GOG, it is a CD release including both DOS version and Win version - they both run with scummvm. Now, I applied a fan-made italian translation which should translate both versions. The DOS version runs into dosbox, but eating so much CPU cycles that my fan runs at full speed (I'm on ...

engge / engge2 a confusing open source solution?
The engine author worked hard for supporting Thimbleweed Park and it seems he's now offering very good performance. Long story short, given his first solution ( engge ) suffered from serious bugs (design bugs?), he switched to a brand new engine ( engge2 ) which fixes all the issues. But, whistl eng...

Re: Sanitarium Engine - All help is welcome
Hi all, I've recently fixed a number of bugs related to the conversation and inventory systems, so at least chapter 1 is now completable, however random crashes still occur My repo: https://github.com/alxpnv/scummvm-asylum Chapter 1 demo: https://vimeo.com/511557296 Thank you, this is great!

Re: A merger
Our first-ever public release, ScummVM version 0.0.1, happened on October 8th, 2001. Oh dear, I think I downloaded a file called scummvm-0.0.2-something.deb how many years ago? I can't tell. At that time I wasn't even able to build scummvm by myself, your application has evolved into an amazing pro...
