Congratulations and a million thanks to all involved with 0.12.0. I've been waiting years to replay Malcolm's Revenge, which I could never get to work properly with DOSBox. Your work is incredibly appreciated!

One step (after installing the game itself): Download the Grim Launcher. Do a Google search for it, I know it's still available for download on some Grim fansites. It replaces the game's original launcher, so after you install the game, open the Grim Launcher for a one-button option to transfer data...

No pre5 update

Cydia still isn't prompting me to upgrade to pre5 ... has urbanfanatics not updated their repository yet, or am I the only one having this problem?

Be sure you're in the "mobile" folder on your iPhone, as opposed to "root", which also has a folder called Media. 2.0 doesn't check the "root" folder.

Yup, it was in the main CD directory. I think I installed the game with DOSBox a while ago, which must be why the other files were on my comp but not Westwood.001.

Anyway, thanks -- now to play (and bug-test)!

My directory for Malcolm's Revenge doesn't seem to have the WESTWOOD.001 file, which is listed as required in the data file directory on the wiki. Will this be a problem in trying to run the game on the current SVN? Why would I be missing that file? (Running off Malcolm DOS/Windows CD, which I think...

The fact that you're using the PC Floppy version under the Mac OS X port of ScummVM shouldn't make any difference. Have you tried re-copying the data files from the floppy, in case they got corrupted in the transfer or some such? That would be my first thought.

If you'd used the search function on these forums you might have noticed that about once a day a new user comes on here and asks basic questions about how to use ScummVM that are well documented in FAQs and on the forum. The devs are friendly and helpful enough to give you ScummVM for free. Don't ma...

Grim Fandango runs very well in windowed mode in Parallels on my MacBook Pro. I'm sure you could get EMI running, too (without 3D acceleration), but it might take some tweaking, ie running windowed or some such. I think there's an EMI launcher out there somewhere akin to the Grim Launcher that allow...

Gabriel Knight 3 is not the prettiest game, and one that was hampered by design concepts that exceeded the budget and technology of the team. As such, it has a lot of good ideas and some so-so execution, especially in the visuals department. I agree with the statement that Grim Fandango made great u...

Yeah, move the mouse around slowly. I'm fairly certain the game makes a distinction between "ghost" and "ghost's foot." It's been a while since I've played through it, as well, but I highly doubt it's a ScummVM glitch.

I believe you're referring to a character from Beneath a Steel Sky. You can download the full game on the ScummVM downloads page (and I recommend it, as it's quite good).

He just had the key wrong. It's F5, not F1 -- or fn(F5) for MacBook Pro users.

You might find it more illuminating to research this on some of the adventure-game-maker sites, like AGAST or AGS. Both those programs use simple and efficient path-finding techniques that I'm sure are similar to the SCUMM games.

I'm not sure what you mean by "dark ugly side bars." As clem said, the game has to be boxed into a 4:3 ratio, but on my MacBook Pro there's just a straight black frame around the game screen in fullscreen mode. Not at all ugly or problematic.
