Thanks, got it. After posting this I remembered to try the "show contents" option and got it to work. That was a good game, are the following Broken Sword games playable on ScummVM? I know one of them was 3d but if I'm not mistaken the following one went back to point and click?

Indeed they do. I was trying to decode them but I had nowhere to start. I haven't played much of the game yet, except to check it out. But I think pessimism more often than not paints a more vivid picture.

Has anyone read the short story by Harlan Ellison? I read it last night and it is quite incredible. The more Harlan Ellison I read the farther up he crawls on my list of favorite authors.

I remember a somewhat similar topic coming up a couple months ago, and a battle ensued over the legality of the whole thing. I'm all for it, sounds like fun to me. I don't have a very Guybrush voice, but I can voice some pirates or something if you wish.

I don't have a definitive answer to your problem, but I've been hearing lots and lots about most software not really being quite compatible with Vista yet. Maybe a couple months and a few Vista software updates will do the trick.

when i clicked that link initially it opened a window with all kinds of crazy question marks all over it, so i clicked the link on the scummvm homepage and that auto started a download, which is the file i put in the "lure" folder. it aint working though. edit: i didn't see your edit, ha. ...
