I noticed that, according to a recent post on the Art Deco Dining Pavilion, The Harlan Ellison Recording Collection store has now sold out of the official I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream Clue-books, though the game itself should still be available at time of writing.

Well, after not getting a definitive answer there either, I thoroughly embarrassed myself by asking Harlan himself and, as one would suspect, it's a FAQ ... ;) Here's one I was pointed to after the event ... http://www.islets.net/faq.html#Anchor-What-23240 Essentially the punch tape alternates betwe...

I understand many editions of the short story have some sort of braille/punch tape pictorial motif running through them? Indeed they do. I was trying to decode them but I had nowhere to start. I haven't played much of the game yet, except to check it out. But I think pessimism more often than not p...

To conclude this thread, I have a small update. A friend of mine has spent some time on this after I ground to a halt so early on, and has managed to extract a good proportion of the text. Details of the investigation have been documented here: http://rewiki.regengedanken.de/wiki/Indiana_Jones_in_Re...

I did actually try emailing the harlanellison.com people about buying it (as I live in England and can't readily draw US funds) but that was 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing. Guess it is Amazon then... Umm .. you can't actually email The Harlan Ellison Recording Collection people. The store is es...

IDA Pro Free did seem to spit out useful stuff, but I'm not an assembler guy (see post #1) ... so I haven't been able to figure out what it's doing. Whilst it probably shouldn't be stupidly complex to reverse engineer the text compression, I think it's probably over my head, unfortunately - may have...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I tried running the executable through DCC but it errors about being unable to load the signature file dccxxx.sig, which I think should be a surmountable error, if I knew what I was doing. Hmmm ... *scratches chin* Methinks I may be out of my depth a bit here. I'll ...

How Would I: disassemble the "other" DOS Indy Adv?
Hi, Posting in The Junkyard, as this is somewhat off-topic (not directly related to ScummVM). However, I thought I may be able to get some useful advice/help from any clever ScummVM developer bods in here. As a learning exercise for myself, I'm considering porting the long out-of-print DOS text adve...

Heh. Yeah, I can't imagine there are many ppl who've played it recently. :) The DISK.ID file is just a text file identifying the demo, afaict, but the installer chokes if it's not available (the rest of the demo needs to be in \SIMON\DEMO). Not sure what the DRIVERS.RED file is, but it's binary so I...
