I would suggest you compile the latest version yourself into a .deb. Download the source code archive of the latest release from the Downloads page. Extract it, then follow the directions for Debian (will be pretty much the same for Kubuntu), as detailed in section 9.0) Compiling of the ScummVM READ...

Excellent, I've just grabbed a copy of that. I appreciate as far as ScummVM is concerned that the Acorn demo is exactly the same, but I think it should be archived anyway, if only for posterity. It's a bit far-fetched to think ScummVM might get sued out of existence, and we'll all be forced to use D...

a. D'oh! Should have tried that. Plays great.

b. Will do.

c. Ah, so there *is* a DOS Talkie demo - I thought there must be. Out of curiousity, is it available online? The only DOS demo linked on www.scummvm.org/demos.php is the subtitle-only floppy disk demo.

Simon the Sorcerer I Demos

Hi, I tried the StS I demos listed on the Demos page. a) Does ScummVM support the Acorn CD version? It seems not at first glance. b) Playing the DOS floppy version, when Simon enters the cave and talks to the Goblin, there is a rectangle's worth of text missing. This seems to happen whenever text is...

*doffs cap* You are a scholar and a gentleman, sir. :) Nah, this isn't heated - I have no axe to grind, and generally agree with Freddo's maxim. If there's no benefit to moving, then there's no point. I just agreed that it was a Good Thing that the discussion be had. Though only being a user, and no...

However, I don't think that this decision or the "rationale behind it" needs to be recorded on our website (other than keeping this thread around, like any other forum thread). Problem is, ppl don't search forums properly. :) I just think it might be better to provide an easily findable s...

We simply haven't really discussed this so far. But it would be very difficult for us to make such a license change, There seem to be no serious benefits for us, either, so, I feel little compelled to start such a discussion, personally :-). Just because there are difficulties, doesn't mean the dis...

Whilst I think it's presumptuous to assume the license should be changed, perhaps the spirit of the question should be, whether the debate has been had by the ScummVM developers. Perhaps when it has, the results of that could be listed somewhere on the website, as it was in the VideoLAN link above. ...

Vista is known to be overzealous about user rights and permissions, isn't it? I don't run it, but perhaps the user you're running as doesn't have permission to write to the folder you have installed ScummVM to? If that is the case, you could change the save path to a directory you do have permission...

The English version is still being sold in some places. For instance, the UK branch of Amazon claims to have it in stock. Yep, I bought it from them just before Xmas. Plenty of copies of LucasArts Classics on eBay UK as well as Amazon UK too and they're all pretty darn cheap - you can pay less than...

Hello Samwise I take it that you've tried running the Idigicon versions of Simon 1 & 2 on an Win XP comp? Actually, no - I run Linux so ScummVM is perfect for playing them back. Well I hadn't bought the games from them & I'm extremely confident that both games won't run on XP. In fact if my...

Blatant Plug: DVD case AdventureSoft titles-Idigicon webshop

Hi, Full Disclosure Disclaimer: this is a blatant plug, but I'm not affiliated with said company in anyway, except as a customer. I've just had a really good customer experience after ordering a title from Idigicon.com, so I thought I'd share the experience as they're not listed on the Where to buy ...

If you can find the original 1993 big box (purple edging) 3 x 3.5" floppy disk version, that has subtitles but no talkie soundtrack. If you do look for that version, make sure it comes complete with the original manual, as that version has copy protection built-in which will need you to look up...

I managed to walk all the way to the biplane without fighting any guards at all. If you get the timing right, you can reach ladders etc. to get to the next level before they catch you. It's even possible to squeeze past some, if you're exceptionally lucky, Oh, and if you use the guide linked above, ...

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. I have no idea what the current status of tracking down the source code for Discworld is, beyond what's on the wiki. Maybe you've found someone who has it already or are stuck with legal issues, in which case feel free to ignore this post. Anyway, I spotted ...
