Interplays StarTrek games: does mission evaluation impact space fight difficulty?
Hi everyone. I recently listened to a podcast about retro games hosted by two well-known games journalists. In one episode they are talking about Interplay's StarTrek 25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites. At one point, they say that the original manual states that Starfleet's "adventure mission&...

Dedicate next release to Judith Lucero?
Hello! Back in May 2021 Ron Gilbert wrote in his blog that Judith Lucero, one of the lead testers in Monkey Island 1 and 2 and definitely a person that received many remarks in game-manuals from that era died. I don't know how many other more or less well known people which were important to Lucasfi...

Sightly OT: X-Wing mission differences between editions
Hi! I am aware this is slightly OT for ScummVM, but as this is Lucasfilm related and I expect some veteran gamers from the 90s here I hope it is tolerable in the junkyard... My question: Lucasfilms spaceflight simulator X-Wing was originally released in 1993 and had two enhanced re-releases in 1994 ...

Re: ScummVM 2.1.0 “Electric Sheep” has been produced.
Hi!
Forgive me asking again, but are there any news on the Linux packages?
I am on Debian Buster, there won't be a new release soon and the chance of seeing ScummVM 2.1.0 in backports is rather low...
Thanks!

What happened to startrek-engine-support
Hi! I just wanted to ask what happened to the startrek-engine that runs 25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites? AFAIR a GSoC student worked on it in 2018 and the resulting code was merged into master. As the first release after this, 2.1.0, does not contain support I wonder wheatear there is still some...

Re: Location of INI-file and relative paths for portable use
Hi! Aside from being not a dev but an (perhaps advanced, I don't know) user who only donated a small amount of money instead of code: I support an optional portable solution for Windows! I too don't get why other devs are fighting it so fiercely and say forking ScummVM would be the only possible way...

Re: Is The Serrated Scalpel for 3DO Supported on ScummVM?
Hello! After playing The serrated Scalpel on DOS back in the 90s I recently bought the 3DO version to enjoy full speech. Is there any chance this version will be supported by ScummVM in a future release? If I understand it correctly it was working but support was dropped when cleaning up the code? C...

Re: Location of INI-file and relative paths for portable use
If there's any particular interest, I can try to build a version that would respect a "marker file" like "is_portable" and if such a file is present, automagically set all paths including the configuration relative to the ScummVM directory for "real" portable use. @a.b...

Location of INI-file and relative paths for portable use
Hello! If I read the documentation correctly ScummVM stores the INI-file somewhere in the users home-directory and needs absolute paths to the game-directories. I don't know how much coding-work it would cost, ot whether it contradicts some ScummVM-design-philosophy, but would it be possible to allo...

Thanks a lot!rootfather wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 6:26 pm Hi there,
having a .zip release sounds like a good idea. I'll see what I can do about this. I doubt that the PortableApps version will be back soon...

What happened to the portable and ZIP versions for Windows?
Hello! AFAIR there were ZIP-releases without an installer for previous releases of ScummVM. Even longer ago there was also a version for PortableApps. For the latest release I can not find a ZIP version and the version offered by PortableApps ist terribly outdated. Are there technical reasons for th...

When was lucasforums.com closed?
Hello! Okay, I have to admit I did not have too much time for years to take care of any LucasArts related stuff. Right now I had some free time and I noticed that many popular sites seem to have closed down in the past years. For many pages you can find something, but the one I miss most is lucasfor...

Monkey Island Special Editions on iOS - Still playable?
Hello! I bought Monkey Island SE and Monkey Island 2 SE for iOS when they were released. I know Disney retired support in 2014(Why can't they simply admit they didn't earn enough money with it and have to state that it was a difficult decision instead which is hardly believable?) and both apps were ...
