BASS cutscene help

Post by RPHoogle »

I've played Bass Before and I thought it was great but when reading about it I found out there was a cutscene at the begiinning. I srestarted the game a few times and once the cutscene was shown but i had no speakers plugged into the computer so I never heard it. I've started playing it again but i wanted to see the cutscene does anyone no how to activate it? Has this been a known problem in the past?

Thanks in advance

As far as I know, it's harder to make ScummVM not play the intro than it is to make it play it:
  • The intro is not shown if you use the --save-slot (or -x) command-line option to automatically load a savegame.
  • The intro is not shown if there's a "save_slot" setting in your ScummVM configuration file. There shouldn't be, though.
  • The intro is not shown if you use the "Restart" button from within the game.
  • The intro is skipped if you press the Esc key.
But other than that, ScummVM should play the intro every time you start the game. Incidentally, there are two different versions of the intro: One for the CD version, and one for the floppy version.

the only thing that would cause ScummVM to not play the Beneath a Steel Sky intro would be if you use the --save-slot (or -x) command-line option, or if there's a "save_slot" setting in your ScummVM configuration file. (Which there shouldn't be.)

And, of course, pressing Esc will skip the intro, but I assume you're not doing that.

I may have caused some confusion. I can see one cutscene. In this cutscene you can see the helicoptor crashing but I know there is another cutscene with an old guy looking like this Image

Thats my problem I can't seem to view this. theres no warning or anything.

I thought it might have to do with the version floppy or Cd version. Anyone no about this

Those images are from the CD version's intro. (Well, actually the bottom picture, with speech balloons, isn't.) The floppy version has a different intro, with some pretty nice music.

You can get the floppy intro with the CD version (that's the "alternative intro" mentioned in the README), but not the other way around.

Actually, the top one is what was originally intended to be in both the comic and the intro, however Fosters were unhappy with their logo being used in the game. The comic was then changed to 'Lager' (the bottom image), and the cd intro changed to 'S.S. IPM (RAW)' (the middle image).

S.S. IPM (RAW) written backwards... WARM PISS

Well, I guess that showed Fosters!

The version I bought second-hand (before it became freeware) has the "Foster's" image. I think the freeware version has too, now, since it was updated to a later version to fix some bugs. (Mostly with non-English subtitles, as I recall it.)
