The fades seem to be disabled like it is with the Amiga version. I'm talking about those fadeouts of the LA logo and the Monkey Island logo in the intro as well as the flickering at the woodsmith and also the lightnings when digging for the bone (where only Guybrush flickers).
However, running the FM-Towns version with the platform (falsely) set to DOS the fades seem to work just fine (in contrary to the Amiga version).
I know, there are other glitches, because it actually is the wrong platform, but the point is that the fades and flicker effects work fine.
Thus I think, it would make sense to just enable those effects for the FM-Towns platform as well.
