ScummVM on AmigaOS 3.x

Post by Leifern »

Hi,

I'm just wondering if there is any chance of there being a new version of ScummVM for AmigaOS 3.x (PPC or 68x). I know 0.7.1 is out there, but it's outdated and buggy compared to the newer builds.

I would do it myself if i knew how, but i don't.. If somebody had a tutorial or something like that i guess i would even bother to learn how to do it.. So.. Well..?

Any thoughts..?

Well, the 0.7.1 68k Port was done by Uwe Ryssel, his e-mail Adress
is included in the readme file, why not ask whether he like to make
a more recent version?

I'm not sure whether Uwe is still active in the Amiga scene.

I have portet ScummVM 0.9.0 to m68k AmigaOS

Post by Gerry »

Hello,

today, i have portet ScummVM 0.9.0 for m68k-AmigaOS (OS3.x), but it seems, some little parts are missing (sound), but it really works fine.
The GUI-Theme is a very good thing :P
When i have added the missing parts, i would like to release it.
Is there any possibility to send the binary to scummvm.org?

--- Sound works...my sound cable was damaged. The modules für Lure, Cine and AGI are also included now.

Thanks Gerry!

I'm sure the team would be interested in your port. But in order to officially host it, they will need you to commit yourself to maintain it (read: provide some technical support for Amiga users and be available when the team is in the process of building a major revision). This might be quite a job, though nightly CVS builds are not mandatory :)

In the meantime, you can still upload it to Aminet.

PS: any chance for a WarpUp build?

since i do not have a ppc "warp-upped" amiga ( :( ) i dont see a chance to make a special Warp-Port yet. Maybe i could cross-compile it, but then i need somebody for testing it, and i have to check, how this could be made. We'll see...

Does anybody have the linker library libmpeg2.a and/or libmad.a for m68k-amigaos? These configure-files seems not to work with my system. I will rewrite these configures, but it can be cost some time.

In the meanwhile i will include (the optional) support for FLAC, Vorbis, Ogg, and zlib.
mpeg2 and mad will follow when the configure-files are rewritten.

After releasing the m68k-amigaos-port (f.e. aminet  ) i plan to make a special speed-hack-version. I try to rewrite the original files to gain speed for m68k. Maybe this could work. But thats future for now...

Download ScummVM0.9.0 for m68k

Post by Gerry »

Since i am not finished including all parts i wanted to, i have decided to release the port on a temporary site:

(m68k-amigaos, check if this is running on your system)

www.fht-esslingen.de/~gesiit00/scummvm-m68k-amigaos.LHA

Theme-Files are included, FLAC and zblib are also included, but not
tested yet. PLEASE test it and post whether it works on your system or not.
I do not know, if this is working with m68k < 68040 and/or if this
is also working with WarpUp.

Please read the README file (german/english)

Why does Indy III crash after some seconds in the new version 0.9.0?
in older versions, it worked... But this version seems more faster than older ones...Try it!

(Indy III will not crash at full screen mode.
Games from HE will crash (tested with Demos).)

Would be really nice to make this port official. Gerry, do you want to help us with this and become an official builder/porter?

I´ll be glad.
please inform me, what conditions should i accept for being a porter for m68k-amigaos. i really want to do some bugfixes also, i think i saw one ;-). For m68k-amigaos i plan to improve speed by disclude SDL and do native m68k-amigaos-stuff instead.

it will be very nice if you can send me further informations, what i
should do, and what i really shouldn't.

since i would even port newer scummvm-ports to m68k for my own, why not release it to the public :-)

Any news about this? I still have many old skool amiga classic users, maybe I will get one too :D

When the port is done, don't forget to put the news on sites like ann.lu and amigaworld.net

Gerry, with all respect, why not improve the M68K SDL lib instead of making another custom backend? That would be more useful IMHO.
