Speech Problems with Simon the Sorcerer

Post by ragefist »

Ok, my problem: I got sound, but no speech. Installing and so on all without problems. Ive got the German Version with speech.
My Sys: Win XP SP 1 - AMD 3000+ - 512 RAM - Geforce 6600 GT

I hope you can help me get my Speech working.

Thanks in Advance.

A wild guess, but if you used the installer it's quite possible that it only copied some of the files to the hard disk, and left the speech file on the CD. ScummVM expects to find all the files in the same folder. (There's a page on the ScummVM web site that lists the necessary files, but I can't seem to reach it at the moment.)

maybe you should know, that I used the DOS Installer, because the other Installer doesnt work for me, it says that it doesnt support Windows NT or something like that

The point I was trying to make was that unless the original installer actually unpacks files (like for instance The Feeble Files does), you don't need to run it at all. Instead, you can simply copy the data files listed on the Game data files page to a folder on your hard disk, and point ScummVM to it.

In this case, the installer probably didn't copy the SIMON.WAV or SIMON.VOC (different versions of the game use different names for it) file.

So I just need to copy the files listed there in a directory and use ScummVM to play?

-edit-

Ok got it running with speech music and everything else now, thank you very much :D I love Simon the Sorcerer hehe
