I can't get the speech to work on FOTAQ on my Nokia E61. The version I'm using is the one with MP3 compression.
I had no problems getting speech on the E61 from Beneath A Steel Sky with MP3 compression, so there's definitely MP3 support built in, but for some reason FOTAQ doesn't use it.
Anyone have any ideas?
No speech on Amazon Queen MP3 version using Nokia E61?

Well.. Ehh.. Since I have noticed that MP3 support has been crashed on Symbian 9 devices I turned it off. Now I really not sure the versions of SKY available is actually using MP3? What version of FOTAQ are you testing? You can always try the ogg version available from the download page. (There is a MP3 version, OGG version and RAW version available for DL)
Ohh... is that not an MP3 version on the downloads page? I'm very sorry about that, I must have gotten BASS and FOTAQ mixed up.Anotherguest wrote:Well.. Ehh.. I guess I'll use the uncompressed version of FOTAQ to avoid problems, it makes very little difference as I have a 2 gig memory card.

Well..
Beneath a Steel Sky, Freeware CD Version (67M)
Beneath a Steel Sky, Freeware Floppy Version (7.3M)
does n't state what kind of audio compression is used. And actually I dont think there are none, i.e normal MIDI music is used and speech in raw 8khz or something similar.
Compared to
FOTAQ where you have the audio compression used specified. So why is there different versions of FOTAQ. Well. the reason is that not all *nix system had MP3 support, so therefor an OGG version was created to suite those platforms, also the raw version has been available after that.
So I would assume that if there would be a need to make an OGG version of BASS due to the fact that MP3 is n't available on all platform, it would have already been done.
So at least I know OGG is supported, working and available on your E61.
