Error on starting "The Feeble Files"

Post by Gobliiins »

Hello
i am using the windows version of scummvm 0.9.0 with wine under ubuntu linux.
i have all necessary files and i converted the *.smk files to *.ogg and *.dxa.
when i start "the feeble files" (the german 4 CD version) and click on "start new game" in the main-menu of the game, the scummvm console opens and i get the following error:
"error allocating frame tables, size -10481664"

can anybody tell me whats the problem here?

just curious, why use the windows version under linux? (could be a wine incompatibility as well? I tried that once long time ago and couldn't move the mouse)

because i get dependency errors and problems with my package manager when installing scummvm 0.9.0 under ubuntu dapper using the .deb file.
but it runs although and i get the same error using the linux version.

I can't tell you exactly what the problem is, but the only place where I've found that particular error message is in the cutscene (DXA) player, where it needs to allocate two buffers, each of them width * height bytes.

Since a cutscene is at most 640x480 pixels, that should be 300 KB per buffer. I don't know where it got -10481664, but I guess something went wrong with the DXA encoding somehow.

ok i encoded it once again and it works fine now.
the problem was that first time i used encode_dxa.exe with wine (which probably is not working correctly) and this time i used the linux version of encode_dxa from scummvm tools.
