hi the datafiles document, doest state that the *.SMK file are needed to play the game:
http://www.scummvm.org/documentation.php?view=datafiles
and yet i get errors that some files are not found.
the first question is, what files do i need to transfer (aside the ones stated in the document above)
and the second is, how do i convert them to take less space?
the feeble files

.smk files are not needed because scummvm does not support them
however, you have to recompress all the .smk files to .dxa and these .dxa files are needed by scummvm...
a short manual can be found in the README file included with Scummvm-tools.
oh, and there's a huge thread about feeble files in this forum: http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=137

You'll need to .smk files so you can re-encode them. (There should be plenty of information about that in older threads on the forums.) After that, they're no longer necessary.Black Mage wrote:so do i need all of the smk files from all the cd's and the cabs in cd1?
ScummVM doesn't know how to unpack the .cab files. One of them (I don't have my CDs within reach at the moment, so I can't check the name of it) does contain a whole bunch of files that you will need, though, so it has to be unpacked somehow. The original installer will unpack it, for instance.
