Compressing Broken Sword 2

Post by r6mile »

I have the original game Broken Sword 2, with the two CD's. But I would like to play it with ScummVM so I don't need to put the CD everytime I play, and if possible, compress the files so it takes less space. I know of people who have done that (I've tried a compressed version of Broken Sword 1), but I don't know how to do it myself. Can anyone help me?

There is the "compress_sword2" utility that's mentioned in the README file. Like most other ScummVM compression tools, it has to be run from the command-line (there was a mention of a more user-friendly "shell" for them in another thread, but I can't remember where), and works my repeatedly invoking lame, oggenc or flac to do the actual compression. A bit of searching in the older threads might turn up more information.

(Incidentally, you don't want to use FLAC for the Broken Sword 2 data files, since the "compressed" files will then be larger than the original ones.)
