MI1 FM-TOWNS is on sale on eBay now. "Just" for $260. (Anyone to donate $160 for our project? $100 is already could be donated for that particular purchase).

Hi guys!

I'm the one willing to donate 100$ to buy this particular FM-TOWNS game for ScummVM.

If it wouldn't be short before christmas, I'd even would consider donating all the money needed to buy this game.

So, is anyone interested in helping me raising the money needed to buy and donate this game to ScummVM?

Best regards

I suggest you to post this a separate sticky topic, or I could split this one.
Besides, we have only one minor bug on this release and another one which seems to be common to all Kanji games. Game seems to be overpriced for those 2 :?.

Yep, splitting those posts makes sense to me too.

Do you think those Kanji-font-rom bugs could be solved with one of the later games?

This bug seems common to later scumm versions.

And: Of course $260 for one game is way overpriced.

Once upon a time you could buy those games in a pack for only 500-600$.

Which was still quite a lot!

But those days seem to be over, now everybody's after those games.

The demo of the FM-TOWNS version of Indiana Jones 4 and the Fate of Atlantis already provides a good test case for the Kanji issues but the problem is not simple to fix.

I just tested, the demo also crashes with kanji-fonts.

Hm, strange.

The strangest thing is, Zak, Indy3 and Loom work fine with Kanji.

So anyways, don't you think it is a good idea to have at least one copy of every game within developers hands?

I know you guys are even good at fixing bugs with theoretical knowledge of the games.

But still I think it would be good if developers could test actual games.

What's your opinion?

Best regards

Of course it is always the best. There could be in-game bugs, not only at loading time.

But the questions are (a) expences (b) who will get those games, as he has to be able to actually fix those bugs, so money will realy work out.

Well the only thing important to me is that the person, who (probably) gets the game has to be an active Team member.

If he ever decides to leave the team, he has to give the game back to the Team.

That's all that's important to me.

But until now, it seems that I am the only one interested in donating.

Well lets hope this will change.
Or the game is available until mid-January.
Then I would even donate this game alone.

Nah. Once upon a time, you could buy those games for less than 5000 yens each. Of course you had to know what an FM-Towns was back then (let alone having one, though the Marty was easier to get), and find a way to import the games. But those were the days.

There was a recent regression in Kanji support for FOA & MI2, due to changes made to string code of SCUMM engine. Kanji support works in the FM TOWNS demo of Indiana Jones 4 and the Fate of Atlantis again now, try the next ScummVM snapshot.

Ok, now I've managed to download the new CVS.

Well now the problem is as follows:

MONKEY and ATLANTIS show the intro, Kanji Fonts are displayed correct.

However, when the inventory using kanji-fonts should appear, the games still crash.

MONKEY2 crashes after difficulty selection.

Running them without fonts works fine, but doesn't make much sense.

INDY4 Demo of course runs fine now.

Best regards

Sorry if I'm jumping in here, but what's the deal of FM-Towns anyway?
Is the soundquality beter or are the graphics better ... ?

PS.: I've posted it before, but please don't take this post too serious, alk (alcohol) is not that good allways (hey I'm delating more than I'm writing so ...).

@sev: Maybe you should add a new section to the forum rules:
"Don't post when you're drunk"...

That's great, isn't it, otherwise one of best sequels (what I read so far -> still have to play it) wouldn't be there.
And btw. alcohol would have killed all the bacteria in the "water". ;)
