Hello,
I have the Amiga version of The Secret of Monkey Island working fine under ScummVM v0.8.0... Basically here's what I had to do:
...Find the 4 x The Secret of Monkey Island disks in .adf format.
...Download and install a program called Total Commander http://www.ghisler.com/ . Also download and install a plugin called AmigaDx http://bakota.tippnet.co.yu/web/?op=amigadx . The AmigaDX plugin is needed so that you can copy the files from the Amiga Secret of Monkey Island .adf's. Note that I needed to use the Help in Total Commander to work out how to install the plugin...
It should then run fine, but no sound...
If you want sound for The Secret of Monkey Island, download the Amiga version of the music from here http://www.scummbar.com/amiga/
Good luck.

Do you have 000.LFL, 901.LFL-904.LFL, DISK01.LEC-DISK04.LEC, and MUSIC.DAT+SAMPLE.DAT?
If you don't, then you're probably trying to use .ADF files (raw disk images) and you'll need to extract the aforementioned files from them (by following the instructions above).
If you do have the above files, then you might need to set the platform to 'Amiga' before the game will work properly (since the Amiga version uses different graphics formats). In an older version of ScummVM, you would've had to use the target "monkeyvga", though those targets seem to have been done away with in favor of using MD5 detection - if you're using the latest version, you should be able to edit your ScummVM configuration file (c:\windows\scummvm.ini for Win32 versions), find the header for Amiga Monkey Island, and add the line "target_md5=6c2bff0e327f2962e809c2e1a82d7309" below it, which should cause the game to be recognized as the USA English Amiga version (and hopefully allow you to play it).

My German Amiga version is properly auto detected by ScummVM.
ctrl-v reports "Amiga D1.1 21.02.91."
ctrl-v reports "Amiga D1.1 21.02.91."
Of course, you can just use the md5 of the German version.Quietust wrote:add the line "target_md5=6c2bff0e327f2962e809c2e1a82d7309" below it, which should cause the game to be recognized as the USA English Amiga version

759a8534bc790d547c706e675a86c0a1 for gernan Monkey Island, hum?
Interesting, this is the 3rd MD5 we are being told for that game version & variant, the other two being
319a4dde52c7960b5aae8a1ec348d918
0a212fa35fa8421f31c1f3961272caf0
Somehow I wonder if there really are three different one, or if not maybe 1-2 of them are from cracked versions?

Do you have a real Amiga, or do you use some modified PC hardware for this?Isaac_A_Steiner wrote:Seems I made something wrong transferring the disk image.
If the first is the case, you could try LHArc and split the game data over a multi volume and copy it on FAT formated disks. It should be no problem extracting those on a PC.
And concerning the md5, the only German Amiga crack I saw for Monkey Island was a TSR, ie. it doesn't alter the data files, but tricked the original executable instead.
And for WINUAE, take in mind that the game doesn't seem to like much drivers. Emulating an Amiga 500 with 1 MB RAM and booting directly from disk should work. Running this from hard disk is a bit tricky, though possible. If you succeded, press ctrl-v and tell us the version string! I wonder, how many versions there are.
At least there are different versions which handle the actor sprite colors differently, however I don't know if both version exist for the same language as well.

I don't even believe that there are 2 real versions out there.
Just my 2 cents for this topic.
Maybe there should be some re-assurance if the game really works for the user before the md5 stays in.
Maybe some are just to afraid to state that their version is faulty.
I personally can only confirm this md5:

Best regards

is indeed an official version, in-game ctrl-v says:
The Secret of Monkey Island -- Amiga D 1.2r 26.03.91.

I'm currious, does the original executable display the actors with EGA colors, or does it use the altered colors with brighter pink like in the 16 color Amiga SCUMM games?Raziel wrote:The Secret of Monkey Island -- Amiga D 1.2r 26.03.91.
Is the stump joke present?

Waaaay over my head.
How do i check this?
The stump joke, hmm, i don't have a save game to check that late in the game,
but iirc it was there, not sure though,
Well, it *is* possible, but I prefer to properly verify this, toojoachimeberhard wrote: I don't even believe that there are 2 real versions out there.
Can you tell me what Ctrl-V in the game says? Also, on what media was this version of the game delieverd (what kind of floppies, how many, etc.).joachimeberhard wrote: I personally can only confirm this md5:

Well, the in-game version is interesting in order to see if it differs between the various MD5s -- but of course it doesn't proof much, a modified/hacked/damaged version would also show the version string . But if you have it on original media and it is fully playable, this shouldn't be the case, aye.Raziel wrote: I can confirm that:

Came on 4 floppies within a nice box plus manual (8 pages b/w) andfingolfin wrote:Well, the in-game version is interesting in order to see if it differs between the various MD5s -- but of course it doesn't proof much, a modified/hacked/damaged version would also show the version string . a "Dial-on-Pirat"
What kind?
Hmm, they are made from blue plastic, approx. 9x9 cm in size and have a little
hole in the bottom left corner hehe
Re: MI 1 Amiga GER not recognized
Gee, then they are either damanged or you are holding them upside down .Raziel wrote: What kind?

The question was: Are those SD, DD, HD, ... diks? 360kb, 720kb, 1.44kb, possibly with another Amiga specific format?
