I was wondering if there were any plans afoot to support SPK (internal speaker) music, etc.
IMHO in some cases (e.g. Monkey Island 1) the speaker music is far superior to the cd tracks.
So, is there any support for SPK scheduled for the future or is it deemed too much effort for too little reward?
If negative, has anyone got an mp3 of the original monkey island 1 internal PC speaker music?
Cheerio,
Nic
Question: are there any plans to support internal speaker?

I don't know. Jochen Hoenicke was responsible for the PC/PCjr speaker emulation for the older games, but for the newer ones there are only some preliminary notes which are incomprehensible to me.iamniche wrote:I was wondering if there were any plans afoot to support SPK (internal speaker) music, etc.

Hi
I'm not sure if the PC speaker settings work, as I have no internal speaker on my PC. But If you select the game scummvm, select edit game, audio, Override .... then select PC speaker from drop down menu.
Also for superior music to the wave tracks you could try using the Amiga tracks. Info is here:

Failing that try and get the the Floppy disk vga version of MI, and Use mt32 emulation. The sound from this is brilliant.

ScummVM doesn't use the real PC speaker - it just tries to sound like one - so that shouldn't matter. And it turns out I was wrong before: ScummVM is able to play that music for the floppy version of Monkey Island 1 after all.corpse wrote: I'm not sure if the PC speaker settings work, as I have no internal speaker on my PC. It's the "newer" games, like Monkey Island 2, where it doesn't work yet.

I made Ogg Vorbis files for three versions of the Monkey Island 1 theme, played by ScummVM.iamniche wrote: If negative, has anyone got an mp3 of the original monkey island 1 internal PC speaker music?
PC Speaker
PCjr
Adlib
To be honest, I don't see how the PC Speaker music could ever be considered superior, but I guess whatever you heard first is the one that forever becomes the definitive version...
Note that these are all from the floppy version of the game. I don't think the CD version has anything else than the CD audio music.
