@salty-horse

I just got me KoM from the USA, heh :-D

Whoo, this game is PACKED with Smacker files, i hope there will be
support for re-encoded versions of the movies?

Maybe like in FeebleFiles?

Generally any news?

Thanks a lot

That's the last thing i'll work on. If scummvm will support Smacker files, there won't be any need for re-encoding.
Otherwise, of course there will be support. Don't you worry.

I don't think Smacker will be supported, at least not in any official ScummVM release, as per the README for Broken Sword:

Code: Select all

3.7) Broken Sword notes:
---- -------------------
Broken Sword 1 and 2 both come with in-game cutscenes compressed using
RAD Game Tools legacy Smacker(tm) format. As RAD is unwilling to open
the older legacy versions of this format to us, and have requested we not
reverse engineer it(...)
But hey, if ScummVM can have Smacker support - officially permitted by RAD, that is - that'd be great. It'd sort out the requirement for downloading cutscenes (which would save bandwidth) and I think this would at least help in part detract from those who would download the games instead of buying them...

Smacker has been supported by several open source projects for several months now without any reaction from RAD Game Tools. So it may happen that they at least ignore this fact.

Last changes to KoM code were performed on January 12th, so the answer is positive.
