Installing from CD to Linux

Post by iPwnzorz »

I'm running Edgy Eft and I got SVM from the repository along with FOTAQ and BASS (I think it's 0.9.1...). Is there anyway to install games such as Broken Sword? I have Wine but GNOME stops me opening the disc drive when I need to change the disc, same in Cedega. Anyone got any ideas?

I might be quite frequent in help and support...

the broken sword re-release needs to be installed afaik though? I think wine should do to extract the files to harddisk so they can then be added to scummvm

there are post about that somewhere on the forum already I think...

I can only use Wine to install Disc 1, when it comes to Disc 2 I can't open the disc drive.

This happened with MI4 at least...

Sounds like the original CD release of Broken Sword 1 or 2, in which case you don't need to run the installer. Simply copy all the necessary data files from both CDs to your hard disk. This is described briefly in the ScummVM README file.

Nope, 'tis the Sold Out version.

I'll have a go though.

That's what I meant by "original", but you're right that this was unclear of me. There is a Sold-Out Software re-release which I believe includes both games on one DVD. I think you have to run the installer to unpack that one.
