[The Curse of Monkey Island ITA] Audio/Video sync in movie
Hi everybody.
I've got a problem.
First of all: I follow all the instruction about CoMI that I found in SCUMMVM documentation to make it work, and it works.
BUT...
When a FMV starts in game, the audio seems to start in time but is late. e.g. first scene, when you see Guybrush enter in Puerto Pollo, he's still talking, and it goes worst and worst, until the scene finish, because LeChuck says something like "... and prepare for a VOODOO bombing" and instead you can herd Elaine stil talking. (I remember this because I played some years ago)
Problem: the audio and video aren't in sync each other, only in video.
Solution: ?
Sorry for my english, I'm italian and I haven't "use it" for a while.

Re: [The Curse of Monkey Island ITA] Audio/Video sync in mov
Last time I tried it, audio and video were pretty well synced, though I don't remember how much of an effort the movie player makes to ensure that.Sig. Tolleranza wrote: Problem: the audio and video aren't in sync each other, only in video.
You don't mention which operating system you're using. The most frequent reason for really bad audio sync under Linux, for instance, seems to be that the sound is played through a sound server like esd or artsd.

I tried it again with the development version of ScummVM, using both compressed and uncompressed versions of the opening cutscene, and this time the sync was pretty bad towards the end of it. Strange, I'm sure it used to work better than that...Sig. Tolleranza wrote: I can't stand, BS1 and 2 are in perfect sync, so WHY?!?
Broken Sword 1 and 2 cutscenes are handled very differently from the Curse of Monkey Island ones, by the way.

...and indeed, the sync is a lot better for me in ScummVM 0.9.0.eriktorbjorn wrote: I tried it again with the development version of ScummVM, using both compressed and uncompressed versions of the opening cutscene, and this time the sync was pretty bad towards the end of it. I tried only the 0.90 version but, please, can you tell me how to compress or decompress the opening cutscene in CoMI?eriktorbjorn wrote:I tried it again with the development version of ScummVM, using both compressed and uncompressed versions of the opening cutscene, and this time the sync was pretty bad towards the end of it.
I'm not sure to understand how to do this.
PS: I've already tried to not lost focus, palying in full screen mode, aspect ratio correction, using the "tempo parameter" in scummvm.ini with 50 or 200 as values.

There's a tool called compress_scumm_san, but it shouldn't have any effect on the audio/video s ync.Sig. Tolleranza wrote: I tried only the 0.90 version but, please, can you tell me how to compress or decompress the opening cutscene in CoMI?
None of these settings have any effect whatsoever on cutscene playback.Sig. Tolleranza wrote: PS: I've already tried to not lost focus, palying in full screen mode, aspect ratio correction, using the "tempo parameter" in scummvm.ini with 50 or 200 as values.
Do you play the game from hard disk, or from the CD? It's possible that playing from hard disk gives better sync, but I haven't actually tested that.

There were some changes to the SMUSH player recently (less than 24 hours ago, at the time of writing) which could possibly improve the situation. It's hard to say for certain, though, since with the exception of a recent regression, it always worked pretty well for me.Seshu wrote:i got the same problem here =(, with bad sync in cutscenes and slowness on the game.
Comi A/V sync prob
Same problem here. I notice the bad sync starts when the chicken on the grog barrel misses it's cue to cluck (the audio goes first). By then, the entire intro movie goes out of sync.
Pentium4 3Gig, 512MbRAM, Realtec sound, Dec'06 version of DirectX, Nvidia GeForce4 MX4000, WinXpHomeSp2 w/the latest updates (I check for Microsoft Updates weekly).
I tried remedying the problem by installing/running the game via CD and running DxDiag to lower the sound to Basic Acceleration but I get those stupid crashes instead.
Even using Cpukiller3 isnt solving the sync problem!

I forgot, I'm using the 0.9.1 Scummvm and my Comi is the english version bearing the classic EA/Lucasarts white box.gamer_psx wrote:Same problem here.
