top adventure games to buy!

yodelae.
anyone got any recommendations for me? i alraedy have the broken sword series (new ones coming!) and all the monkey islands.

i really want something along thel ines of these two because they are my favourite games.

I also wondered whether or not it would be cool to have a "Where to buy games on your continent" or something like that thread.

My recomendations for you are:

Download Beneath a Steel Sky & Flight of the Amazon Queen from
http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php

If you want LucasArts games, I would recommend you to get Day of the Tentacle (DOTT) or Sam&Max for starters.
Or probably The Dig or Fullthrottle, because they're easier to get these days.

ebay is always worth a look, if you just care about legality and not about fancy packaging you may pick up magazine coverdisks with the games on pretty cheap

StS 1 is more magical

Yeah DOTT, Sam and Max, Full Throttle as well are all great games!

if you want to try out something really retro then loom.
sam n max and fullthrottle both with talkie are great too.

i havent tried out pajama sam but il look into it. but ... isnt that for kids aged 3 to 8.

I recommend Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. The creators for the Broken Sword series based George and Nico character interactions on the Indy and Sophia's from this game. Make sure you get the talkie version (IBM or Mac) as the voice acting is very good.

Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders is also very good but the game can be quite pricey especially if you can get ahold of the excellent FM Towns version. Otherwise, the version included in the IBM or Amiga Classic Adventures compilation is your next choice.

I also enjoy Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Graphic Adventure because its an excellent addition to the movie. There are scenes and dialog in the game that were cut from the final draft of the script so it is almost like having a special features to the movie. Also, it was created by three of my favorite LucasArts desigers Ron Gilbert (Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island 1 & 2), David Fox (Zak McKracken), & Noah Falstein (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and many others) so, there is the subtle design touches from each of them in it. The FM Towns version is once again the best one to get but, it is quite pricey. The IBM VGA version would be your next choice

Heh, I am one of 3 guys behind Hunmongous Entertainment games in ScummVM. (other are Kirben and cyx)

We recommend to approach Wyrmkeep directly. Current price for Mac version (those are on sale) is just $.50 more than 9.72 EUR, i.e. $12.99, but that is with worldwide s/h included. Their multiplatform version costs $16.99 with s/h.

This is a highly recommended because Wyrmkeep Entertainment Co. was so kind to us and presented all source codes for ITE. Without it we would still play intro in a buggy way

PS. Wyrmkeep rerelease is also superior to original CD because it has better music (digitized from MT-32) and several bugs fixed. most notably is repeated phrase in the intro.
