Different game versions

Post by jozue123 »

Hi there.

I was wondering if there is a full list of different versions of the same game, as it was earlier in compatibility list. For example: Monkey Island: EGA, VGA, VGA CD... and so on.
Now in compatibility list there is only a game title, no specified versions.

Where can I find a recent list?

I think you mean SCUMM games. You may find a full list on our MD5 list page.

Thanks for reply, but is there such list for the rest of the games (like none SCUMM games)?

No. The only way would be to look at the source code directly, but even then you might not see all versions listed there (only for some engines).

I once attepted to write a list such as this a while ago as mentioned in this thread the list was incredibly long just with the combined info from the MD5 an compatability pages, and was eventually converted into the International Game Titles wiki page. It was trimmed down to just a page of intnl. titles due to the fact that most of the other information was already available on the site. Plus, generally, if a game is unsupported it is mentioned on the compatibility page

Keep in mind that the amount of supported titles has more than doubled since the time that I wrote that list (possibly even trippled as there are a ton of AGI fangames) Attempting to make such a list these days would be an incredibly daunting task, one that would require a small team of is own, updating it regularly.

Ultimately im not sure there is much merit to trying to do this, the majority of the information is already available in the previously mentioned compatibility and MD5 pages.

I really hate to say it too as I worked pretty darn hard on that list :P
