Mac file size vs. PC file size

Post by scummvm4ever »

Once i run my mac CD'd(sam and max, day of the tentacle,...) through HFVE explorer. Will the new Mac data file be larger than a PC game data file? Or do they end up being about the same? One more question, are there any files that can be compressed on the Mac CD?

So once I run them through HFVE Explorer I can compress them the same way that the PC files are compressed.

No. The mac data files are bundled together in a custom LucasArts archiv file format.

However, you can use the extract_scumm_mac tool to extract the data files; those files then are nearly identical to the PC data files, and can be compressed etc.

I am sorry I don't quite understand.I am not very good with all of this stuff. I do have scumm on my psp with two games that work but those were from the PC disks and that was pretty easy. I will be using a PC to extract the files off of my mac disks. Do I use HFVE to extract or extract_scumm_mac tool. I am also confused about all of these tools you need. When I downloaded scummvm for my psp did these tools come with the download or do I get them some place else. I have read the tutorias I am just waiting for someone else to explain this better. Please any help would be great.
