I have MAC versions of sam&max, Indiana Jones FOA, and DOTT.
I don't really need compression but I thought it would be nice to have the option. I have heard somewhere that if you get the information off of a MAC version of the game that the data files are exactly the same. I ran the CD's through HFV Explorer and got all the files off of the CD. I then searched for the monster.sou, tentacle.000, and tentacle.001 on DOTT. I can not locate any of them. Am I missing something or was I told wrong? I am currently using the (game name.data) file to load on my PSP and the game works great, I just wish it was a little smaller. Any help would be great.
Missing monster.sou

the SOU files are (as far as I've heard) inside those datafiles, if you want to compress you need to extract them first
try http://forums-he.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=3610 and the link to http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/HOWTO-Mac_Games contained in it
hope that helps,

OK, just ran Indy FOA MAC version through HFV explorer (hidden mac files, and hidden PC files are both turned on) and the monster.sou, atlantis.000, and atlantis.001 were there. Have not tried Sam & Max yet. Why would Indy FOA have the files seperate from the main data file, when DOTT does not? Also if the monster.sou, tentacle.000, and tentacle.001 are in the main data file how do I extract them.
Yes, I have read both of these documents. In the HOWTO-Mac Games document under the title extract_scumm_mac it says "If you are using ScummVM version 0.7.0 and above, you don't need this". I am using ScummVM version 0.9.1. Also in the ScummVM README under section 3.4 it says "You used to have to manually convert that data file, but this is no longer necessary, as ScummVM can now open and understand the format natively."
So when I putt DOTT why are these files not showing up?
Please tell me if I am not understanding something, or if I am doing something wrong.

oops, apparently I only read every 2nd line today or something - apologies for not making much sense
from 0.7.0 onwards scummvm can cope with the mac data files, just the compression tools were not updated to also compress the mac files I guess
apparently atlantis datafiles were twice on the Mac CDs - probably once for the ppc and once for the 68k interpreter.
http://forums-he.scummvm.org/viewtopic. ... torder=asc
(you probably already found that post ) - the screenshot of the files shows that the "data" file and the "sou" file are both quite huge, so they probably both contain all the audio
according to wikipedia, atlantis was released in '92 and DOTT in '93 - probably they didn't include the 68k interpeter any longer then, and thus also didn't include that other datafile
(just guessing though)

it's in the aformentioned post:scummvm4ever wrote:Someone has got to know something about this? How do I extract the monster.sou file from the main data file?
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/HOWTO ... _scumm_mac:
it says it's not needed to extract the files but it is ambiguous - it's not needed to extract them to run the game, but it is needed if you want to compress the file
also try http://www.ps2cheats.com/randomstuff/scumm/ - but the tool is called differently now
I'm not too much an authority on mac stuff though, since I've never worked on one
