Saved Games Failing

Post by JerryBlade »

I just picked up an 8GB memory card for my PSP, and games fail to save. Everything else seems to work fine (other homebrews, PSOne ISOs that I ripped from my collection).

ScummVM generates an error message, and creates a zero size save file. Also, previous saves fail to load now. When I use a 1GB card for ScummVM, everything works fine. I am currently running Dark Alex's 3.10OE A' firmware. It's not the end of the world if I have to use a smaller card for this, but I would like to keep everything on one card and carry it all where I go :). I have searched the forums and have not seen any reference to this issue.

I did find this in the FAQ:
5.14. I get "Failed to save game state to file: xxx"

Check savepath in Options->Paths->Save Path. That should point to writeable directory.
ms0:/scummvm_saves/ does not work on the 8GB card (there is over 1GB free), but it works fine on the 1GB card.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I just tried installing fresh to see if maybe something got corrupted. Now, ScummVM will not create a usable .ini file at the root of the PSP. The file is there, but it is 0 size. It does create the scummvm_savegames folder, but again, saves fail and create a 0 size save file. I pulled the 4GB card out of my camera to see if that works, and everything worked fine.

I haven't checked the source code, but I suspect that some pointer or handle is limited to a 32-bit word or address. This would not bode well for my hope to use my 8GB card for ScummVM :(

I guess timing is everything... Dark Alex just released his 3.30 OE Firmware. Once I updated to 3.30OE from 3.10OE A', ScummVM works like a charm!
