Sam and Max installer

Post by DonJ »

Hi I have Sam and Max with the following files:

INSTALL.EXE
SAMNMAX.001
SAMNMAX.002
SAMNMAX.003
SAMNMAX.004
SAMNMAX.005
SAMNMAX.006
SAMNMAX.007
README.TXT

I can't load these files using ScummVM, i think I need to install the game using dosbox. I tried mounting the directory as A and installing the game but after it installed SAMNMAX.SM0 and SAMNMAX.SM1 it asks for the "Bruno 2 disk". I assume that it would simply be SAMNMAX.002 which is all ready mounted to A:.
Anyone has an idea how to get all SM files from the 001 etc. files in order to use scummVM with it?

Thx DonJ

you could try mounting the "real" disk drive in dosbox and switch the disks I guess?

can't think of anything else

I ran to this problem now that I started making back-ups of my old floppies. I tried both of the ways discussed above, neither worked?

Use "subst" with dosbox to mount the folder as drive a: (or another drive)

That usually works. Check the help page of dosbox on subst (type "help subst")

Ehmm... how does subst differ from using mount a in any way? (didn't get it working)

I think I'll have to dig into some DOSBox discussions.

Sam & Max working, installed under Win98.

Tougher luck with Putt-Putt Joins the Parade, I've tried under Dosbox and Win98 so far. It installs (from _only_ the first disk I think), but when running it stops at some point. With ScummVM it gives an error with something like "x is missing from house".

Have you tried installing under Win98 like I did? (or are you talking about Putt-Putt?)
