Gob 3 - Queen's Slipper

Post by exofreeze »

Before I submit a bug report, I'd first like to make sure this is a bug.

Using the April 30th daily snapshot I was playing the King's scene in oblins 3 where you have to get the slipper.

I have tried the puzzle 10 times or so and I can not get to the slipper in time before it is thrown back to the king.

Either the timing animation is too short, the pathfinding is taking taking too much time (ie: Blount takes a longer way to get there then he should), or I just can't do this anymore.

Has anyone else tried this and either had the same problem or no problem at all?

--edit--

I managed to get the slipper by preventing the animation of Fil throwing the slipper back by sending Fulbert up Fil's javalin.

After consulting several walkthroughs, none of them mention this technique - they all state it is possible to do within the allowed timing.

This is not a bug, I've submitted it as a bug as well here

...but the correct solution is to merely jump on the chandelier instead of running back normally

Then they're wrong.

Every Goblins 3 walkthrough out is wrong?

Unlikely.

Especially since I was able to grab the slipper with no problems in dosbox without using the chandelier or distracting fil by running fulbert up the javelin.

There aren't that many walkthroughs for Goblins 3 (I think they're 2 altogether?)

But still, this is strange

Would you like links, I have at least 5.

UHS - http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/goblins3.php
IGN - http://faqs.ign.com/articles/594/594433p1.html
The Spoiler - http://www.the-spoiler.com/OTHER/Coktel/goblins3.1.html
Gamesover - http://www.gamesover.com/walkthroughs/goblin3.txt
My Cheats - http://www.mycheats.com/view/superguide ... r_guide/pc
Another @ the Spoiler - http://www.the-spoiler.com/OTHER/Coktel/goblins3.2.html

So thats 6 right there, and I spent 2 min. looking. None of those mention having to use the chandelier or any other technique other then just walking over and grabbing it.

Two of them specifically say the timing can be tricky, but that it is possible.

sometimes it seems to me the FAQ/walkthrough authors just copy each other's walkthrough

similarly to this problem I had a problem with Broken Sword 2 (zombie island, what it you didn't grab the branch after shooting the boar) and all the walkthroughs implied that you get stuck if you don't do it

after asking at the revolution software forum someone suggested there might be another way through the labyrinth, but apparently none of the walkthrough authors even discovered that

strange

Thats very possible, similiar to how I got the slipper by preventing Fil's animation by sending Fulbert up his javalin, and Dr. McCoy simply found a quicker way to get over there.

I also started thinking... i wonder if i can get to the slipper in time on dosbox due to the cycles not running in full time. The new auto-cycle feature in dosbox can adversly affect the performance of a game whenever it is shifting.

It is strange that it works simply by walking in Dosbox, though...
