Gobliiins - s90(7710)

Post by vne »

s90 platform:
Gobliiins are crushing after intro and credit screen (floppy version). I've managed to run it once by skipping intro/credits in some way, but cannot reproduce this. It seems to be a problem for other platforms as well. Any ideas?

Well released version for P910 should work, so I guess you have to post which device and which version of scummvm you are using to make things abit more simple.

Apologies for violating the RULE (#3a).
Just wondering if anybody has managed to run Gobliiins on any Symbian platform, since it seems to be an issue for PC and MAc versions(0.8 release) as well?

Actually CD version of Gobliiins 1 with track1.mp3 works just fine on nokia 7710! So solution is not to use floppy version. That's it.

That's not a solution. CD support was added later, i.e. floppy was the primary target. Besides it may take longer to find and buy CD gobliiins than probably try to run it properly.

Still you didn't follow that rule :(. I.e. you didn't submit proper bugreport. Okay. Does your copy of the game run ok on PC?

OK, if you wish, below are my excuses:
(1) I’m still not sure if this is the bug since I’ve got the game from very old floppies covered by dust in my parent’s house. And I’m not sure if *.stk files are the proper ones.
(2) I haven’t found Gobliiins under data file MD5 checksums (http://www.scummvm.org/documentation.php?view=md5).
(3) Again I’ve posted this just to know if anybody else has the same problem with the thing.
(4) As far as I know, there are nobody looking after Gobliiins development at the moment, so if it is bug, it unlikely will be corrected somehow.

Unfortunately I no longer have PC at home, and I cannot install scummvm on my office laptop because of my company policy. But here is the checksums for my files:
8042F13464D7FA394E361C940AEF690E ALL.ASK
A42CA54C4F1E3BC3A9FEE8FD301BF4E5 DISK1.STK
520C458F08CFE9AF1D250F0754D17002 DISK2.STK
0F984718773A60C41F595E609D7299B5 DISK3.STK
1A177171DC408D2A93B24BD9D5F0A0A3 DISK4.STK
1F499458837008058B8BA6AE07057214 INTRO.STK
So this floppy version doesn’t work on my Nokia 7710.

This particular version should work well with ScummVM, though there was a bug with sound in intro which is still open. It may happen that Symbian is even more sensitive to it. So try to skip game intro before first sound occurs.

Just skipping before intro starts doesn't helped me.
Once I've managed to run it - I've pressed escape somethere in the middle of the intro. The scummvm.stderr.txt is empty, so not much things to hunt for.
And I don't like floppy version, because for some reason it shows up as "Gobliiins (DOS EGA)" with EGA graphics (I remember it was actually vga graphics?, but may be I'm wrong) - and it doesn't look too fancy and colorfull comparing to cd version.

Thanks a lot, anyways.
