Wiki update for game data files needed

Post by Reckless »

I was configuring ScummVM for my kids with some HE games and I noticed that the game data file listings don't seem to be 100% accurate.

Is it the done thing to just create a wiki account and make the necessary updates?

Could you specify the mistakes you've spotted so that they can be corrected?

you could send an email to the scummvm-devel list or track down Ender on IRC #scummvm to get a wiki account

Not Ender solely, but anyone from co-leaders can do that.

Well, speaking of this particular issue. Many games were released under different interpretator versions, thus they have different set of files. Also localized versions usually have their files renamed differently too. There are too many variants to enlist. Personally I'd like to see all HE file data list be turned into something generic plus enlist several game-specific directories like for Lost and Found or SPY Fox in Hold of Mustard.

All my CDs are sourced from the UK except 'Pajama Sam' which was an eBay purchase from the US. The UK titles are published in Europe by Infrogrames and dated from '99->'01

Freddi Fish - The Case of the Hogfish Rustlers

Files from CD placed in folder for ScummVM:

FreddiHRBG.(a)
FreddiHRBG.HE0
FreddiHRBG.he2
FreddiHRBG.he4

Game detected as:

'Freddi Fish 4: The Case of the Hogfish Rustlers of Briny Gulch'

Execution results in error:

Pajama Sam - No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside

Files from CD placed in folder for ScummVM:

Pajama.(a)
Pajama.HE0
Pajama.he2
Pajama.he4
Pajama.he7

* Note, it is this game that the file list is possibly different for my release of the game.

Game detected as:

'Pajama Sam - No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside (Updated/Windows)'

Execution results in ... a working game :)

Spy Fox - Some Assembly Required

Files in wiki were correct for my version. ScummVM detected it as the Mac version but as it's dual format I just swappped it to Windows and the game played.

Kirben already picked up your reports and added relevant data to ScummVM, however, I guess that now he wants to hear some feedback from you. That's why our bugtracker is a perfect place for reporting such kind of information, not the forums.

I apologise for that Sev! I'll be sure to add bug tracker entries for MD5 codes in future!

Kirben... I'll quote my kids response "Wow, he's amazing" 8) All games now recognised and play. Thanks!

May i point out a little error in the WIKI?

Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth
This game is pointed out as being done for Amiga and PC platforms, but
unfortunately (for me as an Amiga user) it never made it to the Amiga platform.

I'm not sure if there existed a demo version (unofficially) for it on the Amiga, i haven't heard of it at least.
I do remember that it was announced by Coktel Vision to be the next game for the Amiga, but as i said, it never
saw the light of day, maybe even cancelled it early in the development due to the demise of Amiga.

That's why i'm so keen to play this long awaited game on my new Amiga thru ScummVM, keep on, Dr. McCoy :-)

Same goes for The Last Dynasty, whereas i'm not sure, if i'm talking about the same game here.
ScummWIKI states 1992, Moby states 1995, ScummWIKI states Atari and Amiga, Moby only Windows
Moby page for Last Dynasty

Well, it defintely (the Moby game) did not make it to the Amiga platform, Coktel Vision cancelled everything for Amiga
in the year 1994, see Inca and Inca II, which also never made it to Amiga

Dunno, but i wouldn't say being an adventure game superstar is NOT working, i mean he had to learn his lines, be funny on the point,
be serious and sometimes even let his brain cells work to master the riddles. Yes, i really think this WAS hard work.

Still, i dunno what he's doing now...

...that was what you wanted to know, wasn't it? :-D

I remember playing a demo of The Last Dynasty. I'm curious because it is also a space sim game. Is it really true it uses the Gob engine?

Sorry to disturb once more

King's Quest VI was also ported to Amiga.
Not by Sierra itself, by this time they abandoned Amiga already, but by a third party crew.

Leisure Suit Larry 3 was ported to Amiga.

Thank you

And the third party crew was Revolution. And they did a better job than Sierra with other VGA conversions.

Yeah, that KQVI was a resurrection of the Sierra adventures on Amiga.

Too bad they did not get the permission to port the others too
