Broken Sword is "Broken" in 0.9.0++

Post by alohl669 »

Forgive my english level but I need to say an important compatibility bug in the game "Broken Sword 1". The game directly not run and the PSP Shut down in the act. This problem doesn't exist in versions 0.8.2. My PSP's Firmware is 3.10-OE-A'.

Thank you.

I have problems with Broken Sword I too. All my other games, MIs, BASS, FotAQ etc., work. My PSP is running with 3.40 OE-A firmware and I think I have done the installation right. The game just freezes after I start it. There is just black screen and then PSP shuts itself. What I've done wrong? And of coure, what can I do to make it work! Thanks a lot.

E: Do I have to install some of those libaries mentioned in the downloads page?
E2: I tired it on PC too, it worked. But not on my PSP.

BS1 tries to start with showing an mpeg cutscene, maybe this could have something to do with it?

(does that build have mpeg support? I think normally it should just skip the video, but maybe this case is different?)

libmpeg2 has always been causing a bit of trouble on the PSP (both stability and performance wise).

As of the next ScummVM version (0.10.0) there is support for a 'new' cutscene format called DXA - these seem to work really well on the PSP and I've not experienced any problems with Broken Sword with them so far.

So.... either wait for the 0.10.0 release or build a daily yourself (and locate the DXA encoded cutscenes)
