It's time to crack those pesky Nippon Safes

Post by sev »

Nippon Safes, Inc., the first exciting instalment of the Parallaction engine, is now supported in current SVN builds (which can be found under "SVN Builds" on the downloads page) and open for testing and bug reporting via the ScummVM bug tracker.

Are you smarter than an experienced safe cracker?
Are you sexier than an explosive lap dancing bombshell?
Are you dumber than a punch-drunk Italian former boxer?

No matter how you answer, you are bound to end up in jail in the first 5 minutes. Don't worry, though. You might be paroled or somebody might help you and provide the bail, but not for free*.

Help Dough, Donna and Dino in paying their - real or imaginary - debt, but be warned: accepting a job from a hideous misfit in a trench may lead to unexpected results.

Don't miss the playable demo you can find here, and don't forget to submit some sexy screenshots.

*You might think you owe something even if you were parolled, but that's restricted to the slight case you really are a punch-drunk boxer.

Thanks.

There are no CD versions for Nippon Safes, and no speech either.

You can get:
- DOS version, with background music but no sound effects;
- Amiga version, with better background music and sound effects.

This engine is solely work of peres, a great guy who came to use out of blue with almost finished engine.

It sequel The Big Red Adventure with same 3 heroes was quite widespread. Moreover, it could be bought as a coverdisk of Amiga Future 2006/06 issue. Next game on the engine Tequila & Boom-Boom was rare too, but again, was issued on coverdisk for some Italian magazine which is not rare.

Can we get a list of the minimum required files to run Nippon Safes? I'll update the wiki with the information if someone would clue me in.

DINO.TAB
DINOTAL.CNV
DISK1
DISK2
DISK3
DISK4
DONNAHEA.CNV

The Amiga DEMO version (English only) needs the following files:

We should definitely propose a poll to decide which one is better packaged.

Could you please send me or post a screenshot of the language selection screen? It would help a lot in supporting this version.

Thanks

You need to either switch to windowed mode and close the window or
find out the SDL quit key combination on your system.
(ALT-x works here, STRG+q, STRG+q you could try)

If you have a custom beckend rather than SDL, i'm out of wisdom

Ok. Thank you very much.
I thought I'm dumb or something, not finding the quit button in the game.
STRG+q works here on Suse Linux.
