Let me tell you that Sierra King's Quest 6 won't run under SCUMMVM. It's too bad the ScummVM team isn't interested in implementing any of Sierra adventure games.
In order to run Sierra King's Quest 6 on Windows XP, you'll need a *King's Quest Collection* CD version. Must run it under DOSBox.
*First you must make sure there is no KQ6 on your hard drive*
Follow these easy steps:
1. Insert CD2 in the CD drive.
2. Activate your DOSBox
3. Z:\> mount c c:\
4. Check your CDROM drive( D: or E: )
5. Z:\> mount d d:/ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
6. Z:\> d:
7. D:\> install6 -f
8. Install on C, C:\SIERRA\KQ6CD\
9. *Choose devices, Large Install*
10. Returned to C:\Sierra
11. C:\SIERRA> cd kq6cd
12. C:\SIERRA\KQ6CD> sierra
The game runs smoothly under DOSBox & Windows XP. Finally Sierra King's Quest 6 can be played with full speech. This is because the audio & video can be found in the CD2. Well you need the CD2 to play the game. Enjoy playing......

What's the point of this thread, apart from unnecessary trolling?
DOSBox emulates a DOS box, ScummVM is a complete rewrite of a game's engine. In the case of King's Quest 6, that engine is SCI, and not even FreeSCI supports the version of SCI used in King's Quest 6. DOSBox and ScummVM use a completely different approach to play games: DOSBox emulates a DOS environment where a requested game can run whereas ScummVM is a complete rewrite of the original game's engine, and in some cases bugs present in the original games can be fixed with ScummVM. Therefore, to claim that "Game X runs under DOSBox but not in ScummVM" is like comparing apples with oranges.
Please, refer to our FAQ:

Re: Sierra King's Quest 6 on Windows XP with audio sound.
Not true. We have the AGI engine. You could, however, make your own engine for it. There are many other things the team is working on. SCUMM for example.Ferdian wrote:It's too bad the ScummVM team isn't interested in implementing any of Sierra adventure games.
Err... you can get any version to run in XP, even the Windows version. A pointless post, indeed. If Ferdian thought he had stumbled onto a great revelation in getting an SCI game to run in XP that no one else had been able to do before, there are much more appropriate forums to post this to. And as has been pointed out, ScummVM has added support for the early (AGI) Sierra games, including the granddaddy of all animated graphical adventure games, "King's Quest: Quest for the Crown".Ferdian wrote:In order to run Sierra King's Quest 6 on Windows XP, you'll need a *King's Quest Collection* CD version.
