Monkey Island 1 CD... Help?

Post by dmonkey21 »

Hi, I'm very new to this and am installing ScummVM DS to my m3 simply card. I downloaded the free games on your website, when I realized that I had an old CD of The Secret of Monkey Island. The problem is, I can't figure out how I should port it. I copied the files to my computer off of the disc, but if I run the program it says I need the disc in. Any suggestions?

EDIT - Um, ok... I just checked a wiki page on this site, and it says all I need are the Monkey.000 and the monkey.001 files, and taht I can compress the cd cound files, but i'm still very confused; should I just put these on my card in a MONKEY ISLAND folder? If I do that, I should be able to access them from ScummVM DS, right? Any help would styill be greatly appreciated.

a. you do have scummvm 0.10.0 on the sd card

ya thanks I figured it out I wasn't sure I thought you needed all the files from the cd. Also, I now have a DIFFERENT problem, this time for my pc. Ok, I did all the smae things as I did w/ the ds scummvm, even putting the music files in, but now they've stopped playing. At first, they were doing everything well, but after I started playing Flight of the amazon queen, sam and max, and a few others, there was no music in monkey island. Any remedy for this?

a. does the music still work in fotaq, s+m and the others still?
b. could be a midi problem, iirc monkey island 1 uses midi drivers, im not sure about the rest, check that midi isn't muted and they are not corrupt(copy them from the cd again, and play them in a media player)
c.consult us again:P

yes, but there is a workaround for it that i was using.

Yes, the musicin those games still work. how would i be able to tell if it was a midi problem? thank you for all your help thus far. I've tested the tracks in itunes and they play w/o a hitch.

are you sure you've encoded it properly it has to be a constant bit rate?

start-->programs-->accsessorys-->entertainment-->"volume control"
it may be differant in XP but you need to look for a volume control and mind midi playback...
that said you've ripped it, it may be using the wav output but either way checked that everything is at a good volume
