What about "Discworld"

All the inane chatter goes in here. If you're curious about whether we will support a game, post HERE not in General Discussion :)

No, porn is not allowed. Not because I have a problem with porn, but (a) it is off-topic, and (b) a lot of other people do have an issue with it and will strongly dislike it being displayed here. Which is OK, given (a).

Also, the easiest way to ban somebody is to just ban him/her, without saying anything. In the end this is *out* forum and we can ban people as we like. We usually won't do that, of course, just like you wouldn't kick somebody out of a discussion just because you don't like his/her oppinion. But in the end, we *can* do it, and will do it if we deem it necessary to make things tolerable for the rest of the crowd.

Anyway, this is really getting waaaaay off-topic, maybe I should just ban all of us

I've found that Dark Eye works fine in XP and OSX, so why wait? Plus I seriously doubt there are any plans to RE it anytime soon by the ScummVM team, considering it's a completely unique engine and uses tons of Quicktime movies.

sure - you can reverse-engineer it, implement it in ScummVM, submit code to patch tracker... voilà

One thing i don't understand is, why Discworld should/may/will/could -
(choose the matching word) become freeware if 'oneday' the scummteam will receive the sourcecode.
Is there someone who knows ??

If I understand it correctly, it's two separate negotiations: One with those who own the rights to the game, and one with those two may still have a copy of the source code.

That seems to be the case, I think the agreement with Pratchett is along the lines of this: once ScummVM supports Discworld (whatever way that compatibility is achieved, by porting source code or RE:ing) they can release that Discworld game as freeware. So Discworld becoming freeware is not dependant on the ScummVM team getting the actual source code as long as they can still add support for it by RE:ing.

Around October 2005 we learned that the source code has been successfully located and started waiting for it to be sorted and sent to us.

As of this update, 23th July 2007, we are still awaiting delivery of the source code. Additional attempts to locate a second copy of the code have not been successful, and we are now waiting on final word on whether the code we have located will ever be released. If not, a more serious attempt at reverse engineering will be made, although the time this process takes cannot be estimated. .
Now is the time for start the process!!!!!!
