Mac/PC Mix and match

Post by RobW »

Just wanted to ask a quick question - moving to Mac soon and I wanted to know whether the files from my (PC) SCUMM games will work with the OSX version of SCUMMVM.

Silly question probably, but I wanted to get this cleared up.

No problem.

In the "mix and match" spirit, though, I'd be far more interested in whether it'd be possible to integrate Amiga music (once supported) into a VGA version of the same SCUMM game. :D

Amiga music

The Amiga soundtracks (at least on the lucasarts-games) are candy to the ear, but why Amiga when you can MT-32?

Or even better: http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?page_id=54

the original question (as I understand it) was if the datafiles of the PC version will work on MacOSX ScummVM (yes, they do)

the ScummVM savegames are compatible too (ScummVM windows savegames will work on MacOSX and vice versa)

the original DOS SCUMM savegames are not compatible with ScummVM at all, regardless of windows/macosx etc

That last option seems nice, but I was "born and raised" on the Amiga and as far as LucasArts soundtracks go I always found the Amiga versions to be the best. Also, I don't have an MT-32 so I can't get the required ROMs for emulation, and I understand the MT-32 can be hard to come by. But I do have MT-32 emulation on my retrogaming rig thanks to an AWE32 (it's not perfect, I know, but better than Adlib anyway), so I can at least get some of the feeling there by running the games in their original DOS environment.
