Speech problem with Simon the Sorcerer 1

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, so hello!

I'm sorry for jumping straight in with a technical question, but if anyone could help I'd be very, very grateful!

I have the 'talkie' version of Simon The Sorcerer 1 (original CD), but when I play it through SCUMMVM, I get the music and sound effects, but no speech, and I cant figure out why not

I installed the game onto the hard drive itself, so I'm not running it from the CD.

I am using Windows XP, so I downloaded the official patch from Adventuresoft, but it still doesnt work. I've also checked in the SCUMMVM settings when I start the game to make sure that speech is on, and it is!

I have no idea what to do, and any help at all would be great!

did you 'install' the game
or did you copy the files from the CD unto an directoy on the HD ?

I installed the game properly. I ran the SETUP from the CD

yeh, you don't need to do that, just copy the cd contents to your HDD
