Generally Struggling

Post by Robert_Sanders »

I have original disks of DOTT and MI 1 & 2 and I have a nokia e61. I am using the latest build of scummvm for s60 3rd edition. I'm just not quite getting it. I have put the files for MI 1 on my phone memory and the game works but without sound. Are there other files I should be using? MI2 doesn't seem to be recognised at all. DOTT has music but no speech - I think I saw a post about converting to mp3 with the file extension so3 - is that right and where do I store the file. Am I right in thinking all the games have to be on the phone memory rather than the card. With a 2GB card it seems such a waste to squeeze things into the few measly MB on the phone. Lots of questions - sorry it's been building up for a while.

I would say that if you have a large memorycard (>=1gb) then compressing audio is only one more performance issue for the phone.

Remember that the cdrom versions (talkie) has much more speech than the floppy versions, where generally only the intro has speech content.

If a game is not recognized, I would try to copy the files from your orginals again to see if it works. also testing them on a PC is a good recomendation.

the cd version of MI1 has the audio on the cd(like if you put it into a music player) so you'll need to rip them, if thats the version you have

Er... no. As far as ScummVM is concerned, it doesn't matter where the games are stored, but common sense dictates to put them where they won't inconvenience you, and that means the card because it's BIG and internal phone memory isn't. Consequentially, if you have enough space to fit the game files without extra compression, do so and forget about transcoding to MP3 or whatnot (OGG is better, by the way, in terms of performance, at least on my Sony Ericsson). Call upon it only if you're running low on free space and want to get more games squeezed in there.
