KLARTEXT - because of all the german-speaking people
@ admin:
please! leave this post to the forum! there are so many german-speaking people, joining scummvm, asking for the correct way to play the adventures on the Nintendo DS!
i really think most of the scummvm-users are germanspeaking
reading the english "manual" how to do correctly is so difficult - even to the younger ones!
for all these guys and the peace on earth: PLEASE! DO NOT ERASE!
----------------------------------
WAS MUß ICH MIR NOCH KAUFEN?
WELCHE KARTE IN WELCHEN SLOT?
WAS WOHIN KOPIEREN?
WAS TUN?
Danke im Vorraus!

This forum is english. But I understand the desire for non-english speakers to have their own place to discuss these things. We may consider adding a German (and Spanish, French... ?) subforums, resp. a single "international" forum.
However, please consider how arrogant it may seem to others when you claim that "most adventure gamers are from germany anyway" or "i really think most of the scummvm-users are germanspeaking". I have no idea on what data you base that claim (our website stats show differently, btw), but regardless, this, and posting german-only when this is clearly against the forum rules as they are, doesn't really make people look positively at you and your request!

right
@fingolfin
yes, you are right.
it would be very helpfull for all of us when there are a some sites in the foreign language.
don´t be too angry about me - i´m just a little girl
but have a look at the pc. most of the new classicadventures are from germany (ankh, tunguska, jack keane, simon the sorcer 4, eg.) and most developer say: the germans alway buy adventures and economy-simulations
and - by the way: you and clem are from germanspeaking states, too

Most of the classic adventures are from Germany? I beg to disagree. Lucasarts, Sierra, Dynamix, US Gold are all American companies, Revolution and Adventuresoft are British, Psygnosis was British, Coktel Vision is French, Pendulo Studios and Alcachofa soft are Spanish. Adventure games are created in all countries, how can you say that they mostly come from Germany?
@md5
nope - carefully reading.
i said: most of the NEW classic adventures (point n click - not this new "broken swords" or "fahrenheit" like)
sure thing, son - in the good old days nearly every developer published a point´n´click. but nowadays most of them come from germany. but i agree with you: the spanish have a great old-style-adventure-culture, too.
but this, of course, is not the request i started.

Exported ones, you mean, surely. Tony Tough is Spanish-made, IIRC, Microids is still French last time I checked (or do Syberia and Paradise not count as point-and-click?) and Russia's point-and-click development is booming as well. Granted, none of our stuff gets exported anywhere and it ain't worth much in terms of game design quality, but you do seem to cite quantity over quality. Ain't my fault that the only games worth exporting of all those being made in my homeland are strategies and FPSes.but nowadays most of them come from germany
This is the usual skewered perception of being familiar only with your national situation. I'm certain any spaniard or englishman, or frenchwoman, etc., etc. would attempt to counter your arguments with examples of their own old-adventure-game-loving friends.
*giggle*

Homebrew carts are cartridges which are not produced by Nintendo and allow people to use selfmade ("homebrew") programs on a DS.
microSD cards are memory cards like those used in digital cameras. You put the programs you want to run (ScummVM + datafiles) on them, then put it in the homebrew cart and the DS will run the program. Wikipedia has pictures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroSD
The webpage I mentioned above says "The easiest supported card to use is probably the R4DS or M3 Simply." but I don't have a DS so I can't really comment on that.
PS: your English sounds fine to me

OK, BOT7, I think, I have mercy with you . So, I am translating the most important parts from agentq's website at the moment. It's probably not the best translation (it won't win any Pulitzer Prizes, that's sure) and I won't translate the whole site, but I hope will translate enough, so you will know the basics . Especially I will only translate, how it works on the M3/R4, because it's probably the simplest to make ScummVM work.
@agentq: feel free to put the translation at your site. As I said, it won't be the best translation, but it should still be understandable by an average german speaking person - At least I hope so.

Wie kommt ScummVM DS auf den DS?How to Get ScummVM DS Onto Your DS
To use ScumMVM on your DS, you will need a way of getting code onto your DS, and a copy of the game you want to run. Don't ask me how to get hold of the games, they are still copyright works, so that means you have to buy them. These games are all out of production though, so you'll have to resort to buying a second hand copy from a place like eBay. You can also use demo versions of the games which you can get from the ScummVM website.
The exception to this are the two games Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight of the Amazon Queen. These two games have been given away for free by their developer, Revolution Software, so you are free to download and play these without paying for them. These can be download from the ScummVM downloads page.
ScummVM DS is a homebrew application. This means that Nintendo haven't approved it, as they do with commercial games. Therefore, in order to run ScummVM you must rely on third party devices which are produced without the approval or knowledge of Nintendo. The devices that can be used to run homebrew on the DS vary widely. The easiest supported card to use is probably the R4DS or M3 Simply. These cards sits in your DS slot. All that's required to be up and running on this card is to put ScummVM DS and your games on the Micro SD card, stick the card reader into your DS, and turn on. Nothing else is required. ScummVM DS can be selected from a menu, and everything runs great. So if you're worried about how hard it is to get this going, these are the ones to get.
THANKS A LOT
i will try this! thanks to both!
